Careful tearing up that rear dif......

"571 hp, 705 lb-ft Combined

Our test truck featured an 83-kWh power-biased battery powering a front motor good for 252 peak horsepower (134 hp continuous) and 287 lb-ft, spinning a 13.96:1 transfer gear ratio. Rear output came to 319 hp peak (143 continuous) and 418 lb-ft of torque delivered through 12.67:1 gearing. After multiplication, that works out to a 36/64 front/rear torque bias, but Magna expects Jeep would likely spec a 50/50 split—especially on a truck with a 50/50 weight bias like this one. Both motors are permanent-magnet type, but a clutch can disconnect the front axle—either permanently (in the selectable RWD mode), whenever it's not required (Auto mode), or never (AWD mode)".

Ummm, the first thing that comes to mind is: that looks like a shitload of weight that the suspension needs to manage! People think a live axle has less than ideal road feel, wait till they try this out.......

No way that is the real production version if if it is low volume. They just took a keg and put all the goodies in it and called it a day.

So much for fording. Looks like a mall "Duck Magnet" No thanks, I'll wait a few years for them to get all the electrical shorts worked out.

Admittedly it's an interesting concept, especially when you consider the local/delivery market, retrofitting existing lighter duty cabover box truck designs relatively efficiently to E-power. I could also see this working in a UPS-type delivery van too.

OTR maybe as gliders, too.

I get throwing it into such a unique vehicle as a JT for clicks and proof of concept but in all reality bashing these into rocks in real-world usage isn't practical. That pumpkin hangs low.

I'm interested to see the evolution of the Jeep, but that abomination of a rear axle is wasted time. Simple replacing the engine with a motor, while having the traditional transmission and transfer case was interesting (Magneto), but this is so bad it's hard to even credit the time spent to do this.

This is a really, really bad effort, worse than what I think many might do if they just DIY'd a Jeep in their garage.
