I got a auto from a shop yesterday to install 4.88 gears and add e rear Eaton e locker on the rear of my sport s. $3999 and that includes a taser mini and all labor. Does this seem fair? Seems like a decent price to me but just thought I’d share and see what you guys think.
im doing all of this before I do lift and 37s so I know it’s done right when I do upgrade.

Seems high. I want to say my gear job only was about $2300 and a locker would have added essentially parts they said, so maybe $3500ish.

It’s not crazy, but seems a little high.

Seems more than fair to me. Gears usually run you $1000, Eaton e-locker is $1200, Tazer is $300. $1500 on labor for all of that is very reasonable - my shop is charging $2000 for gears and front locker, and I already ran the wiring.

edit: for a breakdown, it’s 10 hours labor which is $1800. The rest is misc parts (oils), taxes, and 500 mile service. Another quote I got was $1550 but I didn’t follow up so I don’t know the breakdown, and whether it included taxes and/or 500 mile.

That’s what I was thinking. I know it’s a lot of work. It’s hard spending money when it doesn’t yield and physical results. I know I will be able to feel it though!

Then add the taser mini for 329. Not to far off I don’t think.

I was looking for something similar and I was just quoted 3600-3700 for gears and a locker (just rear-electric). I was also recommended 4.56 gearing to go to 35" tire.

Is it a full rebuild with bearings etc? Or just the gears? Any warranty?

Seems fair

I'm doing this right now

$1200 for gears+kit+covers
$350 for Tazer
and I've been quoted anywhere from $1000+-$1800 for install

Fair price to me. I live in California and I got quoted just about the same at 4WheelParts but just a re-gear; no locker, no tazer.

Seems fair considering the increased cost to operate a business as of late. If they stand behind their work, even more so.

Plus Tazer , e locker wiring so it's getting close .

Based on what I spent for Spicer gears front and rear, this is reasonable including one locker. Can I ask why you’re not installing a front locker as well, since they’ll be open anyway?

I'd probably go 5.13s if you're set on 37s.
You’re not wrong. 5.13 is great with 37’s. 4.88 might be enough, but when is enough, good enough, with Jeeps. :)
