Hey all!

My group of buddies and I just registered for the Krawlin for K9's event in October at Rausch Creek, PA. We are signed up for the Blues and Blacks...I am relatively new to offroading; I have done some greens, and once did I take the Glad out on some Blues at AOAA while stock.

How are the blacks up at Rausch for those that have been? What are some of your "must haves" on the rig? TIA

35's, lift, and skid plates on all of the control arm points, diff covers, lockers. Be prepared to get winched.

Which Blacks you planning on doing?

I dont know, although Im sure the guide will plan something out and let us know (hopefully soon).

I have rubicon skids....if you had to pick one additional thing to protect, what would you pick?

One bud thinks oil skid, so given that's been my only input so far, that's where I'm leaning.

Lower control arms, front diff, then rear diff. Those areas seem to take the most beating for me, in that order.

Thanks for the input.

I just youtube'd black trails at Rausch...and hoooooly shit there are some nasty looking ones. There is no way we are doing some of these, because I know what the other guys in the group are driving, guide included.

i have seen a stock JLUR do blacks no problem. Take your time and you should be fine on Crawling for Cops and even some of their reds.

Here’s my JTRD on 3.5” Clayton and 37’s on Cemetery.

Every skid plate will be kissed multiple times. I got dents on my gas tank skid plate. Quick and easy, Diff covers.

Load the Maprika app on your phone. It's has the maps for Rausch Creek.

Rear Lower Control Arm Frame skids are the "1st MUST" have additional skids in my opinion. I will be at Rausch in November and plan on hitting Blues/Blacks.

I need to take a look at those. Why do you think of them as #1? Any past experiences where you wish you had them/were glad you had them?

Thanks!

Lca skids are a common thing we've all said. Those things are low hanging fruit, literally, and they get beat to death. Most other areas have a skid plate or some kind of protection from the factory. But not there.

I mostly stock to greens and blues there, but still have banged up the lcas.

I agree, but my fronts take most of the beating, and the rear shock mount is lower and needs protection. I use the Rancho garish red ones. Maybe our rocks are nicer in the Southwest:CWL:
