I just put 35x10.50x17 Kenda Klever R/Ts om my 21 Mojave. We went to Moab from Texas last month, and my Mojave very seldom ran in 8th gear. Mostly 6th and 7th. I'm fixin to regear with 456 gears, and I was wondering if any of yall have done this already. Oh yeah, I have the 3.6 Pentastar. Please let me know if you have and how do you like the outcome. Thanks

My Mojave on 35s routinely sees 8th gear, but it wouldn’t in the mountains. I wouldn’t go 4.56 if you are going to spend the money. Go to at least 4.88 and maybe even 5.13 incase you ever want to move to 37s or bigger. I haven’t seen the the need to regear yet, but if I ever spend the money it will be 5.13s.

I agree. At least go 4.88. I'm running 5.13s on my Texas Trail with 37s. 8th gear is not an issue at all and it goes around 2300 at 70 mph on the highway.

This is only sort of related, but about how much can I expect to spend on regearing? I am local to the Houston area if that helps, and would be willing to consider recommendations on what shop. May consider getting lockers done while I am at it, but I fear that would get incredibly expensive.

I plan to just run 35s down the road, but near term I will probably just get some 33 A/Ts or rubicon take offs so I can push the regear issue out a bit further.

Around $2000 with parts and labor. In Houston, I would suggest 249 Drivetrain. They specialize in gearing. The owner is a little weird but he knows his stuff. I had a local Jeep/offroad shop do my gears and I'm regretting not having someone who does just gears perform the work.
