I’m still having death wobble. I have searched, watched videos, installed new parts, retorqued all the bolts, still having problems.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys
18k miles

Upgraded parts

  • Lift - 2.5 EVO Enforcer Lift (About 500 miles driven).
  • .75 Inch Daystar Coil Spacers - Front and Rear (About 500 miles driven).
  • Steer Smarts Track Bar (About 300 miles driven)
  • Rock Krawler Adjustable Lower Control Arms (less than 100 miles driven).
  • Rear Rock Krawler Track Bar (less than 100 miles driven).
  • Tires - 37x12.50x17 Kanati Mud Hog (About 500 miles driven).
  • Wheels - Rock Trix RT116 - 8 Straight Spoke / 17x9 -12mm (About 500 miles
No issues prior to install lift.

Installed lift, wheels and tires, had death wobble.

Had alignment done… still had death wobble.

Got new track bar…still had death wobble.

Got new lower control arms and rear track bar…still have death wobble.

Next step is to get another alignment.

I’m sure caster is off, confident the front and rear axles are centered.

The axle end of the track bar joint looks tweaked, does a washer need to be added on the on the back side of the joint face, inside of the frame mount? See picture below.

What bushings would be the first to cause the issue?

Also see a leak on the steering box, could that expose death wobble with the larger tires / springs? See picture below.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Something isn't right with that track bar. it should be flush against he sides of the bracket and the bolthead is not tight against the bracket. What does the frame side look like? Also what is your camber set at? I run 6.5 to 7 degrees of caster with 3" lift and 38", no issues.

Check to make sure your tires are balanced and not out of round. You can take each tire off 1 at a time roll them a short distance. It will be pretty obvious. If one is out of round, then you can try to find a shop that will "true" the tire. They basically shave the high spot off of the tire.

Can not tell by the photo, but if that axle end of the track bar is offset I would turn it a half turn and reinstall it and see if it lines up better that way. Then recenter the axle. Plus the track bar bolt isn't hitting the axle tube is it?

That’s what I’m thinking, track bar joint isn’t sitting right. It’s torqued to 150 lbs, bolt is from Steer Smarts. Alignment will be next. Thanks for the information.

I’ll definitely rotate the end of the track bar and see if it helps it to sit flush. Going to get a new bolt as well. Thanks for the help.

While I agree the tracbar looks suspect . OP had DW before the trac bar install . I would put your stock tires and wheels on and go for a drive . See how it does . Are you actually experiencing true DW or is it a heavy vibration or bumpsteer . Bump steer should be non existent at that lift height .

Have you not done an alignment? That should have been the first order of business.......

It does not look straight to me. Depending on who aligned it - if anyone even did, the left side control arms being extended even slightly more than the right side control arms could create that wonky appearance. I would also check and make sure the truck is not dogtracking.

It’s true DW, totally out of control, have to almost come to a stop for it to go away. I’ll try the stock wheels and tires, also going to reinstall the axle end of the track bar. Thanks

I experienced DW with the Mopar lift. Spent a lot of time and money trying to figure out what had started the DW. Finally installed geometry correction brackets, metal cloak lower control arms and set the caster to 6.5. Haven’t had DW since.

@EliteFlex This post is a really good suggestion too. I've known several people who did get out-of-round tires installed (luck of the draw I guess) and ultimately got replacement tires under the tire's warranty. In two of the cases, they "argued" with the tire shop that it was the tires and were not believed. It wasn't until they insisted the tire shop do a road force balancing of the tires that the shop then saw/recognized the problem in one of the tires. Food for thought.

I have the Mopar 2” lift with the Daystar .75 spacers also. I had similar DW issues. Went round and round. I put a FOX steering stabilizer on yesterday and the truck handles great today! The Mopar stabilizer I took off wouldn’t even extend after compressing it fully. This after only 5K miles.

Monotube steering stabilizer for the win!
