I’m replacing my stock rear drive shaft this weekend, and am looking for tips to avoid surprises after removing the old one. I’m replacing it with a Dana two piece heavy duty 1350 3” OD steel shaft. It’s supposedly a direct bolt on, and is rated for severe off road use and lifts up to 6.5”. I’m at 4” or so in the rear. The transfer case connection is an 8 bolt CV, but includes bolt types I’m not familiar with. I included pictures of the bolts in question, along with pictures of both shaft ends and the existing axle connection. The rear is a 1350 u joint with a flat 6 hole flange. For anyone who has replaced their rear shaft, what needs to be removed from the rear pinion connection to switch to this joint, from the stock 8 bolt CV? Are there any considerations regarding rotation of the transfer case or rear differential I should be aware of? Thanks in advance. The link below shows specs from Dana for the new shaft.
