Well sitting in the dealer and was just told the leak I found yesterday is the rear main seal. First time I've heard of a EcoDiesel having this. Of course this dealer doesn't participate in JeepWave so I'm gonna be fucked on a rental and this is my only vehicle. Glad I put trust in Jeep, should have known better.

so has anyone else had to replace their rear main? Here's a pic of where I found the leak. Ignore the circle, where I originally that they problem was.

Sorry to hear.

FWIW, Jeep wave program only covers a same day rental if brought in for scheduled normal service. Does not cover extend stays for warranty repairs.

OP, how is this going for you?
I crawled under the Jeep this morning and found this. The “oil“ is less like oils but feels more like a heavy grease. I wiped it down and going to monitor it. Hoping it’s just assembling grease that’s dripping off

Mine was a pretty obvious drip all of a sudden. Still in the shop, supposedly started the work last Thursday. On Monday I'm going to call in and get an update.

Any update on this? Pickup up my new diesel late last week, and noticed a very small oil stain in approximately the same area as your picture (although much smaller). Hope it's just some assembly residue, but I'm going to monitor closely.

I checked last night and the leak is slowly coming back. Like I said, it’s not oily. Thick, almost like grease .

Got mine back and have had no leaks since(knock on wood). Tech told me it was because something was shoved up against it. The week previously I did have to get pulled out after being pretty badly high centered so that would kinda check out. Makes me want to put skid plates as my next modification.

The rear main seal is on the crank and that black thing is only a cover and only keep dust out. I dont thing you getting high centered had anything to do with it.

Jeep Gladiator Rear main seal leak? A1658B5B-2795-4746-9DF6-AC8A19D0098B

Doing a routine inspection today, found that I too may be leaking from the rear main seal.

I just put mine in the shop this week for a similar issue. Tech at local shop mention rear main leak while he was doing the annual state inspection. I wiped it away but it came back after a day or two. Dealership so far says they cant trace it, but they have a rep from stellantis overseeing already since this isnt the first trouble i've had with oil. Hoping for a swift resolution since I was already without the truck for 2.5 months early this year for a turbo replacement

simple test, put dye in engine oil, if drip shows up with dye it's a seal leak.

Rear main leak isn't uncommon on ecodiesels. Not a majority of them leak but not unheard of either.
