My rear window is leaking in my 2020 Overland. Seems to be a common issue from what I've read. Dealer told me to come by on a Thursday when their "leak specialist" comes by. So we'll see how that goes.

There is a water sloshing noise somewhere around the back window. Like a half full water jug. Has anyone identified where the water is accumulating? I hate to leave water accumulated inside the vehicle. It seems like it is behind the rear trim? The bluetooth speaker is sitting in water, so I've taken that out and dried it off. But there is definitely a lot of water somewhere.

sorry to hear this...i hope you have a decent dealer. Some people have posted they got a hack job repair.

Some have had to get the whole hardtop replaced, because they cant re-seal the window.

Just an update, I took my Jeep in on Thursday to have the leak checked. They took some pictures they have to submit to Jeep for approval and once approved with order the new rear glass. So we’ll see how it goes

My dealer ordered the glass when I called to make appointment. They said it’s super common with these. Especially first runs, our truck is a launch so they said to bring it on and sure enough they confirmed.
My headliner and around speaker was soaked too. The rear carpet had lots of dampness too. Good luck!

my dealer didn’t want to say it was “common” but did say they’ve already done 5-6 of them.

Its crazy to me that Jeep didn’t catch this during testing.

Yeah it definitely seems like someone probably is getting fired in quality assurance testing department haha

Someone on this forum has had a similar issue already... water sloshing around between body panels, iirc.

If you search for it, you'll find the post in here... somewhere. The member had a problem similar to yours and the solution-- they were able to find the location of the retained water, drain it AND fix the issue.

ohhh that sounds promising. I’ll do some searching tomorrow and see if I can find that post. Thanks!

I found a few other posts where people had the same issue... ie water sloshing around, sounds like a half full water jug.

This thread, post #9 found a solution... ie, take the top off and hold it upside down to drain the water.

That's a bit labor intensive, and until the window/seal is replaced, I imagine it's just going to fill up again. So I may wait and make the dealer do this during the repair. Assuming they are going to be able to get the glass ordered soon.

Thanks again.

My dealer ordered replacement glass for my Gladiator on December 5th. I’ve been waiting a little over a month with no date in sight. Hopefully you won’t have that problem, but be prepared for a wait!

When I asked my dealer how long the wait might be, they said they wouldn't know for sure until they got approval to place the order, but ones they had done in the past came in within a few days. But it seems like this is a fairly common issue, so the wait time may be increasing.

I waited 4 months to get my new steering gear box, so I've learned to be patient, haha.

For some reason I thought you were joking and meant hold jeep upside down. I was like.... uh, yeah that is a bit labor intensive.

haha, holding the Jeep upside down will definitely drain the water out... but may introduce a few new problems haha.

Ya, man...that’s right: it was the top filling with water.

Btw...I like your avatar.
