MT doesn’t compensate as well as an AT. When we regeared, our mileage and power returned. Prices from 1600-2000 are common. Area dependent of course

I didn't regear. The 3.45s and 35" tires are totally fine and she still pulls hard on the highway if I need to pass somebody. Pulls surprisingly well. Mileage is still great.

Last time I did gears on a Wrangler it was close to $500 total for all the parts, and it took about 4 hours to do it on my back in the garage. A shop could do it faster. So you're looking at $1,000 tops, IF they are being fair and not trying to rape you.

I saw some company here advertising regear for $1500 including parts. No idea if that’s good or not. Seems high depending on the hardware. Should maybe be 2-3 hours of shop time? Even at $150/hr that would be less than $500 for labor.

I've had it done several times and it's a good idea--IF YOU WANT A WARRANTY--

The costs--IF THE SHOP BUYS THE GEARS, which is a good idea---if you want the WARRANTY--

Costs range from $1200 bucks to $2500 bucks, if you're having LOCKERS ADDED at the same time and

For WARRANTY ASSURANCE breakin time speed is ESSENTIAL-

Good luck, just be sure you REALLY NEED THEM !

I didn’t see where you said what model you have, but if you have the 4:10 gears already I see no reason to regear unless you do some pretty hard core off-roading. Of course this is just my opinion.

I have a sport s and don’t notice any issues on 35s with stock gears. I test drove multiple vehicles on stock tires (Rubi, Sahara, Sport) and while I’d guess there’s a difference it seems too small to notice.

If you have a Rubicon, with 4.10 gear you should be fine with 35, not ideal but fine.

JL regearing is significant more labor intense comparing to JK regearing. The latter is literally pop out the old gears and pop in the new gears.

I’m going up to 37s, anybody running 37s on factory 4:10s? How’s it doing, any down side I should know about? Did gas mileage get worse, did you loose 8th gear?
Thanks!
I ran 42’s for a short period why I was waiting on my gears and was really impressed To say the least.

As said with 4:10 you would be fine. With the Sahara and 3:45 you will def want to re gear no questions.

I have 315/70/17 BFG KO2's on my manual sport with 3.45's. Even with the slightly undersize diameter and weight savings they provide when compared to a true 35" mt, I will be regearing soon.

With the manual trans I can really feel how much harder the clutch has to work to sync things up into first. I hardly notice the difference when driving down the highway, but for around town and on the trail I think the regear is definitely warranted.

However, I still can't decide whether 4.10's or 4.56's are the way to go.

It's really very simple.....Install the 35s and if you don't like the "new" performance, regear. If you choose to regear, it becomes a simple mathmatical comparison:

Find a tire size calculator online....I use miata.net

Since I don't know the stock Sahara size, I'll use a Rubicon as an example.

285/70-17 is 102.8" in circumference.
315/70-17 is 108" in circumference.

We divide 102.8/108 = .95

So we know that the 35" tire is 5% larger in circumference and to maintain stock performance, we need a gearset that is 5% lower.

4.10 x 1.05 = 4.30

So to maintain stock performance with a 35" tire, a 4.30 gear is needed. I don't know if there is a 4.30 offered for a the new D44, but I believe there is a 4.56. The 4.56 would result in a slightly higher RPM on the highway and slightly better than stock crawl ratio for low speed stuff.

In the end each individual needs to decide what they want.

I can’t eveb buy the parts for less than a grand. Then add in an initial fill and change at 500 miles. Depending on oil that can be $160 by itself.

Really? Two ring and pinion sets with install kits is $1,000?? Jesus Christ...last time I did a JKU the ring, pinion, and install kits were around $250 per axle and there were about four different brands to pick from.
