I believe you have to have the Uconnect Access subscription for the app remote starting feature

Is this something you can use from anywhere then? Have a Viper on our current car with a dedicated 3G connection. Didn't realize there was an in-house solution available on the JT.... maybe?

Yes. I have the Guardian Services on my current car and you can do remote commands from an app including start, lock, unlock, horn, etc.
Worked great at the office as I could start it, then pack up. By the time I made it down and out to the car it was warm. I also used the lock feature a lot walking into a store and thinking "wait did I lock it?". Just sent another request to lock it from the phone. Bit expensive feature though.

Also included GPS tracking if stolen and saved me once from locking my key in the car too.

You need a factory installed head unit with a cellular connection for the remote functions to work. You have to pay for the SiriusXM Guardian subscription to use the remote functions. If your truck is capable, it came with a one year Guardian subscription and the dealer should have setup an account when you got the truck. The wifi hotspot is a separate subscription you can buy from AT&T, if you have the cellular equipped head unit.

This is not a new feature to me but paying for it thru a 3rd party like Sirius is. I have this feature with several other autos and it's part of the vehicles package. Pay once!
Maybe I'm just not a Sirius fan?
