Hey guys,

Joined the club last night! She’s a base Sport with manual trans. Looking to achieve a better look without a lift. It sounds like the consensus is not to go larger than a 33” tire on a 3.73 manual transmission, do you guys agree? I ordered a set of the 4ply Nitto RidgeGrapplers 285/70R17 116Q. My question is will a wider wheel with correct offset significantly enhance the look and save weight or should I just stick to the stock 7.5 steelies? If new wheels what width/offset should I go with?

Welcome to the site and congratulations on the new rig - it looks great!

We may be a bit bias but a new set of tires and aftermarket aluminum wheels will definitely improve the look of your vehicle, though the black O.E. steelies look pretty good too. A new combo is also a nice way to to put a personal touch on your vehicle.

A popular wheel size that will accommodate 33-inch tall tires such as 285/70R-17 is 17x8.5 ET0 (4.75" BS). This size offers a plethora of options in varying finishes :like:

I also have a base Sport model truck, not a Sport S. It came with the same black wheels and street tires that you have. I bought a set of 5 matching Sport S wheels and tires from another member here for just $200 I gave him my Sport S wheels and tires. Before and after pictures attached. Doesn’t quite fit your exact request but just an idea to think of. My tires are a little more suited for mild mud conditions than they are street tread like yours are. Welcome to the forum.

Ended up canceling my tire order and going with a set of Rubicon Launch Edition take offs. Was spooked about going too tall of tire with the manual trans. Rides great, can’t even hear the tires!
