Rock Front OHV Weekend Trip: Campsite Struggles But Epic Sunset

I wanted to share pictures and videos from my recent trip to Los Padres National Forest east of Santa Maria, CA. The secluded spot turned out to be a perfect location for my buddy in Orange County and myself from the North Bay to meet halfway. Rock Front OHV has a number of easy greens to moderate blue trails. One of the trails was definitely a borderline difficult black trail. That will be a later post where we had the added difficulty of doing it at night! The day before it dumped and the 1st day of our trip had intermittent showers. The area doesn't get much rain so it slicked up pretty well. We had the added difficulty of taking a lower end offroad trailer for the 1st time. Forest River's No Boundaries trailer went up some sketchy terrain and survived without falling apart. We did end up finding a campsite and some adventure along the way. Here are the pics and videos:

That's awesome. It doesn't seem to be a well known spot, but I thought it was great and no crowds.

He digs it. I was surprised that it stayed together on those trails. I was impressed. He got it used in Arizona as a repossession for like $12k. He had to fix a few things up, but the bones were good.

Got around to making the 2nd vid and got a ton exploring done on Day 2. Some great easy to moderate trails with mud after that late April rain.

Have you gone in the Poso area? Its close by. I think that might be our next trip in the area.

Pozo is close, but not really eventful. It's a basic fire road. Cool lookout though (Hi Mountain Lookout).

Good to know! I love lookouts but I would want some other features to make a trip worthwhile. Do you have other favorite spots that are close by? Or is Rock Front your favorite?

I wish there was more near by, but most are hours away

The conclusion of our weekend trip was a good one! We went night wheeling on a sketchy ridge trail on Rock Front OHV. Good times!
