If there is another thread on this feel free to link, I couldn’t find one.

I would really like a full roof rack, but don’t want a bed rack. I’d like something that clamps to the roof gutters, but I currently can’t find anything that doesn’t require some kind of drilling, either that or it doesn’t specify in the specs or description. I want to be able to take it off and put it on fairly quickly because I don’t plan to have it mounted all the time, basically just for our waterfowl season so I can secure my kayak up top and leave all of my stuff in the bed locked up. Any help greatly appreciated.

I use Yakima rain gutter mounts when I want to haul my kayak around. Once you set up the correct widths, it is very easy to put on and off...maybe 5 minutes.

Here's a link: Yakima Rian Gutter Mounts
Looks like you have to buy the round bars separate though? Also did you get the extra riser height or go with a standard?

you could simply go with the MOPAR ones as well they mount to the rain gutters and are fairly easy to attach and detach.

Yeah the bars I can find. Here’s a link to a JCR off-road carrier that is clamp on. JCR OFFROAD. This would probably fit the bill, I’d just like some other options to look at I guess. The Yakima clamps are sold out too, otherwise I’m sure those are modular enough where I could get a full rack to fit. I haven’t looked into it too deeply.

Anyone have the Hooke Road rack? It says bolt on, but it’s also no drill. They don’t show a picture of it on a JT though so tough to compare.

Yes, the round bars are extra, but you can probably find them used fairly easily. I did not need the risers. In fact, I had the risers on for a different application and removed them for the Gladiator.

You can get several different bar lengths with the Yakima to fit your needs, so it won't be a problem to get a full rack to fit. The nice thing is that I've had a few different lengths of the Yakima bars for around 30 years. I just choose the length I need for whatever particular application.

Have a tap on hand to chase the threads of welded nuts.

Have spare metric bolts on hand for the ones they short you.

The flat washers they provide are too wide to use on the cross bars.

Only one per cross bar per side can be installed.

Have fun on the corner support bolts as five are bunched too close to one another.

Do not tighten any bolts until all are started.

I messaged customer service but they did not respond.
Former ASE master tech so no, I started all the distorted welded nuts by hand.

On the up side it was only three that would not start without a tap.

Wow. I’m glad I asked thanks for the feed back. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet but this helps a lot. Sucks you had so many problems. It does look good on your rig for sure.

I drove it today for the first time.

Above 35 mph it starts to make too much noise.

I have a Hotheads head liner with the optional sound deadening strips .

My daughter told me to turn the radio
up…

Exposed Racks work well for my kayaks.

Would you feel comfortable with this setup if you had another kayak that size up there? I have two kayaks that are 70-80 pounds each that would travel at highway speeds. They are 11 to 12 feet in length.
