Roof top tent on a roof rack over the cab

Has anyone put a roof top tent over the cab on a rack, not sure if you can put that much weight on the cab. I want to put a small roof top tent up there. I have a topper on order and don't want a bed rack. I am looking at the Front Runner Roof top tent that weights 93 pounds. I would be the only occupant and I weight 170 pounds.

Go I rack makes an awesome roof rack. It doesn’t mount to the actual roof, so the weight limit is much higher. I had one on my old JK and it was awesome. Probably the best rack out there

Gofastcampers.com Nice thing about the clam shell RTT. no support pole hodge podge, no having to make the bed either, its all done. Stop, open, and crawl in bed, done. low profile, only 6" when closed. I can still use my full bed.

Check out the Gobi roof racks if you want something beefy to hold a RTT over the cab. Not cheap though.

Ahh so you're one of those that got a SL in. Congrats man! I was gonna go this route but went with the full camper. I do not regret it at all.

If goes through the hard top so can handle an actual load.

The Gobi required the rubi rocker guards (structurally a good thing).

BillieBars is coming out with 6.5" high bed bars that should clear your bed cover and still give you access. I have a standard height set to move my tent off my diamond back cover. They are build like a tank.

I hear ya, I have a Jayco Baja trailer as well. Its nice to go boondocking with all the amenities to. Glad to hear you are getting out, thats the main thing. Do you have any pics posted of your rig with the camper? I would love to see them.

Here is our setup. EeziAwn Stealth RTT, ARB touring awning with tent add on. We also have Decked drawer system. RTT is mounted on a RCI rack.

I cant warrant having a trailer on the east coast. Maybe one day but I will cross that bridge when it happens haha.

I have Ouray/Telluride, Moab, Rubicon, Cedar Tree & Wild Bill either scheduled or almost locked down for some adventures before the end of Sept. Would love to cross paths with ya, and do a beer cheers to JT's.

Absolutely man! Im looking to do a big part of the TAT next year, possibly bringing my GF with me with her driving her Defender (2021 not the good old ones )
