Had an appointment at my dealership to address ESS light on my 2022 Mojave Gladiator this morning. It's a 6sp MT- and my reverse camera, reverse lights, and gear selection notifications don't work 30 seconds after start-up.

Recall 92A- is for an"improperly manufactured Gear Position Sensor/ All Gear Sensor(AGS)

The remedy for this condition is NOT currently available, it is estimated to be launched in 4Qtr 2023

Notice of recall

Yup - they can't make and/or sell any new vehicle that doesn't have a functional backup camera. Federal law stops them cold.

Damn. Hopefully you MT folks doesn't have to wait like us diesel recall.
Apparently you're not familiar with the other manual recall announced in February

Makes me happy I ordered the auto. I really wanted a MT, for the uniqueness, fun, and to save a few bucks, but the wife can’t drive one and has no interest to learn. This sucks for all those that have one on order, but makes me feel a little better about the route I went.

Are they going to replace your sensor with one of the same "incorrectly made" ones or are they telling you to go away until the recall part is available?

FCA: "It will be fixed in 4th Quarter"
"Which recall?"
FCA: "Yes."
"You want to actually pay your workers to make that happen?"
FCA: "Nah."

My wife can, she knows how - but can't legally due to her handicap and license restriction.
I found out how good she was with a stick when she took the Comanche I had and drove it 2 hours to meet me for a stereo contest. Good thing she wasn't in an accident or pulled over for anything. Then she took off with my 1936 F20 when we were moving and drove that thing (top speed about 3 mph) from north of Bondurant to Pleasant Hill. Couple hours driving that old tractor.
Anyway, it's among the reasons I buy only automatics these days - besides the fact I have a 5 speed manual car and my knees aren't what they used to be - if they ever were what they used to be.

Taught my wife, but the younger generation isn't interested. Except that I will make sure my own kid does.

Times sure have changed! Growing up, manuals seemed to be everywhere and its all I and my friends wanted to learn how to drive. Shoot, my mom and grandmother owned and drove them, and 95% of my cars over the years have been manuals. Now it seems manuals are one of the best theft deterrents LOL. A few months ago my wife brought up all the Kia and Hyundai thefts going on concerned about our cars. I told her mine was fine because I'm sure most "Kia Boys" can't drive stick LMAO. Joking aside, not that I hear about a lot of Jeep thefts, but that was actually another pro in my eyes as well with getting a MT in the Gladiator, that much less likely to be stolen. Save the manuals! : )

I'm not holding my breath that my kids will be interested in owning a manual, but I'm going to make it a point to make sure they learn how so they can. Last thing I want is for them to find themselves in a position in life where they have to drive a manual in an emergency situation and can't.

Honestly, I just don’t understand why folks wouldn’t get the auto. It’s the 8-sp automatic that woke this engine up.

I get the manual is cool thing. I had one in my “99 TJ, but mostly to keep some length in the rear driveshaft and the auto back then sucked or to be fair isn’t near the transmission that these ZF’s are.

Off road, in my opinion, autos are just better. Smoother with more control and we won’t talk about what very well might happen if you depress the clutch peddle if fording water. Or deep mud.
