So I bought myself an early Christmas present, install was fairly easy beware if you have a front camera you need to switch over the two push in nuts that retain the camera see bottom picture.

Looks great! How long did this take you from beginning to end?

Longer than it should have about 2 1/2 hrs, but I wanted to transfer some of the silver accents to the black grill, so I had to take more of the original silver and the black grill apart to do that, and it has it’s difficulties, also I have the front camera and there’s a butt load more clips to remove. Funny now I’m thinking I want to see it in all black! I think I can get it done in an 1hr now I would say it’s more tedious than difficult.cheers

so I decided to switch the grill to all black and it took me 1hr and 40sec its definitely easier the second time, I took some comparisons pictures, I definitely like the all black better.

I agree, the completely black looks better than with the silver accents.

I did the same on my truck. My grill was already black, but I had the silver Overland accents. So I swapped those over to the matte black. Looks so much better. I used Mopar part # 6KM3-6TZZ-AA

The silver on the bumper stands out now, but that's just an excuse to get a new bumper and winch, haha.

And you're right. It's not hard to do, but just a little tedious trying to get some of the clips loose.

Thank you for the information! I've been eager to do this just to break up all the silver up front; I personally prefer the all black grill. Well done on your work, and I'll make note of all the clips as I have the camera to deal with as well.

The guy that owned my jeep before wrapped the stock white grille. It's peeling off in spots, so this spring I'm gunna spray some rattle can bed liner on it.

Long time listener, first time caller. Thanks for the post. I have a 2020 silver Rubicon and just did the Satin Black grill as well. Went all black too. Love the look! Just a couple thoughts to add to the thread in case someone else is looking to do this mod.

1) I have the front trail cam and spent waaaay to much time trying to figure out how that was going to mount. Turns out, the grill is THREE layers. The grill, the seven slot accents AND the honeycomb. Simply pull the honeycomb with camera mount from your original and swap it out so you'll have an all black setup.

2) The camera and washer need to be disconnected, but are pretty straight forward. The washer is a metal button, and the electrical is a tab connector on the bottom right of the grill.

3) Be careful with the white clips, especially if you are using a flat head to push down on the tab. I managed to bust two of them getting them out, but mine is a 2020, so might have aged a bit.

Cheers,

jb

I actually wanted the white grill on my overland, but there were only 22 JTs in the country with the options I wanted. This particular dealer already had the satin grill installed so I didn’t have much of a choice. It’s grown on me. Goes well with the black accents.

I’m with you… When the black grill started becoming a popular option, I didn’t think I was a fan. I have a friend who bought a JL Rubicon Extreme Recon with the black grill, before I had a JT. It started growing on me and I purchased a JT with it. I’m all in now, I dig it! If I were buying new again today, I would want a black grill… Which is good because that seems to be the theme of the 2024 grill design.
