I am starting a campaign to save the half doors, which are nearly extinct :punch: ... Jeep, if you're listening, please bring them back strong. To some of us they are as essential as having a soft top, even in the Northeast.

It seems production for half doors on JKs has been dwindling down since I got mine 10 years ago, and now the JL still doesn't have them, but Jeep did promise they're coming in 2019, and there is no word about them for the Gladiator.

I'll start a #SaveTheHalfDoors on Instagram.

Chime in here if you have something to say. Let me start by posting some pictures of my JK with half doors...

They have emphasized that the JT is using the same doors as the JLU many times... so as soon as they announce half-doors for the JLU then they will have announced them for the JT. (c:

I would love to see a dual top / dual door group. Half doors when rocking the soft top and full doors when the hard top is on.
That would look awesome, especially if you throw a softopper/bestop on the back and roll the windows up there as well.

I want those half doors for my JT, not the tube ones. I personally hate the tube doors. I agree with @Nice JK that I would be interested in a dual top/doors option
Count me in, dual doors option group! Whoever said it's like having a brand new car in October and April, I'm there. Tube doors are lame, bring back the two piece half doors!

I am the one that said that about tops, but I won't be getting half doors from Jeep.

I will use the OEM full doors with the hard top in winter, but will be getting full soft doors to match the soft top in the summer. I love the canvas doors. Super light, less than 2 minutes to completely remove all 4 and put them in the bed. If it rains or gets cold they keep you dry and most of the heat in. They are however a bit loud on the hwy.

Can you please lobby with us for oem half doors? Maybe they'll also make full canvas doors an option. =)

That's a great idea! Someone from JEEP needs to pay attention to this. Count me in for this option for sure!
Maybe @BestopTeam has a back channel to somebody at Jeep who will listen?

I think they should have soft doors as an option then make a dual door group with hard and soft doors then another group with full and half doors.

Thanks for your support.

The factory half doors are “real” doors in every way with crash beams, interior pockets and armrest, same quality door handles, nice interior, factory mirrors, same significant door thickness, etc.

Aftermarket half doors are lighter, fit better in the trunk if you are thinking to go completely doorless, and are very very primitive from my experience. Door handles and keys primitive, door latches and operation primitive, door is basically a sheet of metal so from inside the Jeep there is lots of void space as the door thickness doesn’t extend all the way in to the interior “walls”, a lot less safe without crash beams in the doors, more rattle, more water leaking inside, more noise, no armrest/pockets, need separate provisions for side view mirrors to stay street legal in most states.

So it depends on what you are looking for.

When I asked a few years back about a dual door group, I was told that it was thought of quite often, but the logistics of keeping two sets of doors with the vehicle as it goes down the line was the issue. Everything must go through paint at the same time to insure perfect color match. Not sure if anything has changed logistically or not for the JT.
