On my 2021 Glad Rubi, my first pump was replaced last summer. When it was hot, either idling or driving, the power steering would quit. It never locked, just need big arms to steer. It was replaced under warranty.

This time, wife, I and the Great Dane left Calgary for Vancouver for 12 day holiday/wedding…nice stress free get-a-way. Got to Kamloops, (about 7 hours away so far) filled up at Costco, then the power steering quit, warning alarms and dash lit up displaying Service Power Steering! Was able to strong arm it back down the 10 min hill into a dealership and they hooked up the scanner and said the computer is commanding the pump to work but it isn’t.

Parts guy said pumps are back ordered for two weeks. I told the service manager I can’t be stranded in Kamloops for two weeks so I’m going to keep driving on to Fort Langley to the wedding and will notify my service manager back in Calgary.

I strong armed it the next 320 kms to Fort Langley to the camp ground and we set up camp. This morning I pulled out both batteries to check on them. Both holding charge, so it’s not the aux playing games.

Checking out a rental while we are here so I don’t have to strong arm the entire time we are here. I’m not looking forward to the 900 km trip back to Calgary when we’re done here.

We don’t have JeepCares up here in Canada but I’m in good hands with my dealership back in Calgary. We decided against renting a car as it would cost $1000 cad for the time we would be here and I’ll just put up with how hard it is to steer.

You don't need to go to the gym after this.

Arrrrg….I know. 36k kms and I’ve gone through 2 power steering pumps, a coolant consuming engine, one transmission.

But HEY look on the bright side, my right rear axel seal isn’t leaking!

Jealous of that drive you took. Absolutely beautiful. Gas prices in Canada was brutal though $185 to fill up my chevy and that was 5 years ago.

I woke up this morning from having a wonderful dream! I elbowed my wife and before she could call me something obscene, I told her we’re going to be millionaires!

I had a dream I was racing around Langley and Surrey, darting through traffic with impossible steering and then it became a video game with those virtual reality goggles the grand kids are all screaming they want!

Race through cities and towns and those death defying off road passes …and you can’t steer (very well).

Does anyone know if there is a fuse I can pull that will stop the constant alarm dinging in the dash showing the “service power steering” notice?
