So I was thinking and wondering if anyone has ever drilled and tapped the lower ball joint area to insert a set screw to help keep the lower BJ from coming out when breaking an axle shaft? I know BJ delete keep this from happening but other brands do not support the lowers from coming out of the axle housing. Has anyone done this? Just asking as I know there is a risk of ruining the mounts.

If you drill that aluminum it will more than likely crack and break.

Dynatrac HD upper ball joints have a snap ring on top which retains them. Both joints become dislodged simultaneously when that happens, so the upper will keep everything in place. I would recommend them if you’re going to be wheeling in a manner that makes breaking u-joints likely.
