Made the drive from Phoenix to Sedona this morning.
Started to trip by heading to Devils Bridge.
Trailhead parking was packed but you can drive a high clearance 4x4 down the trail. The obstacle of rocks they put across the entrance to stop people driving normal cars down, was the worst obstacle we came across. Hit the frame somewhere near the back.
Quick tip. NOBODY moves out of the way for a car. We had a lady drift into the side of the bed as she was walking along glued to her phone.
After seeing the bridge, we went into town for lunch. Sedona was very busy as usual on a Saturday. Gas was 35c cheaper than Phoenix though!
After lunch headed to Soldiers Pass. Super short trail with some tricky spots but nothing too drastic.
Itās a $6 pass to drive the trail and only 12 cars a day can do it. A guy tried tailing us in through the locked gateā¦
Again. Worst obstacle was right at the start. I went down fine going in. Coming out, the wife was driving. There was a side by side at the top waiting for us to pass and she panicked. Instead of going nice and slow, gunned the engine and bashed her way up the rocks. Fuel tank plate and the frame took a few hits.
Sounded worse than what it ended up being. Took me a long time to even spot the ādamageā.
Great day out and the 17 month old slept through the majority of the rough stuff! Got to disconnect the sway bar which made for a comfortable ride. Was really impressed with the Gladiator. I know it gets stick for being long and dragging parts. But we did the trails today stock and honestly if we were better drivers, I bet we would have had no issues.
