I recently started getting this fault and light in dash. It also gives a fcw light and turns off Park sense system and light comes on on the button. I will attach pics. Took to dealer and they said can't get to it now, they are backed up. I made appointment for today and told can't get to it. Any idea what could be causing this and is it OK to drive. Trying to get into another dealer to get it checked, heading to jeep invasion next week and need it. I can pull over and turn off vehicle and it goes away but will come back.

I do not think there is one magic bullet item for this fault indication. Having an Overland and it's 4WD Auto system with it's transfer case clutch system also adds an extra lay of complication. Could be a transfer case, FAD, switch or even ABS issue that ties into this system and anything without a proper dealer or high end scan tool diagnosis will just be stabbing guesses.

My overland does not have the 4WD Auto system. The axles are 210M front and 220M rear. So it is possible the OP does not have the Auto system as well.

That's true. Even without the Select-Trac system, there still is quite a bit of other ancillary systems tied into what will makes the "SERV 4WD" caution light to come on. It is nothing I would take stabbing guesses on without a decent high level scan tool to help troubleshoot.

Well, I have described an issue I had with the front axle shaft system on my Overland in the leaking axle thread. Essentially, the stub shaft was too short and did not fit the splined collars properly. There was a rotational metal sliding noise, similar to that of a hanger bearing that is worn out, but originating in the axle housing.

Was at the dealer for repairs for 19 weeks straight.
After multiple attempts to get the correct part from FCA they gave up and changed out the entire front axle assembly. Apparently FCA kept sending the parts for a gas engine model. So I suspect there was an issue with identification at the source between Dana and FCA.
Picked it up last week and it has no issues since.

OP's problem likely is different. Best not to confuse the two threads.

At this point, though, he's doing the right thing and getting it looked at. Nothing anyone can really do until that diagnosis comes back. My money is also on an issue with the transfer case or ABS system, but that's just a guess at this point.

Same issue 2020 Sport S, 19K miles. Wasn’t even in 4WD at any point in the last few weeks. First got a “Service Transmission Soon” ironically on the way into the dealer to get my MPH re-calibrated after adding Mopar lift and 35in tires. Now today, no Transmissom Service reminder but she got the Serv 4WD up.

Media outlet works off and on and one of my daytime running lights goes out when this thing lights. Turn Jeep off and back on, goes off. Comes back on after about 10 miles of driving. Not sure if it’s all related. She’s in today hoping to squeeze in some time with the dealerships transmission specialist.

Who here has updated their firmware? I did.
I’ve had some odd things happen since i did this. I also am getting a Serv4WD lite and my swa-bar disconnect is now not avail.
And when does this happen, on my yearly guy trip to the San Juans in CO. Made coming down Black Bear….interesting.
I want my disco’s back!!!

Anyone get these issues resolved? I have multiple issues that are similar. The gear selector light on the dash blinks/flickers at times, the auto park disabled warning flashes on and off repeatedly when in 4lo, the revive 4wd light will randomly come on. I randomly get a sway bar disconnect unavailable warning even just driving in 2wd. At times when attempting to shift it manually it will just blink “m1” and continue shifting as if it was in drive. The truck will sometimes surge/lurch while sitting at a stop light. Took it to the dealer and there was a code thrown for a wheel speed sensor and since I have 37’s on it they refused to diagnose it. I ended up getting some take off 245/75/17 from a sport that I need to put on and then bring it back in. It’s a 21 ecodiesel rubicon with 7k miles. Just spacers to level and 37” pats.

I too am getting random Service 4WD warning light activations when in four wheel drive. They reset when I shut the rig off, and sometimes do not return for hours. A few weeks ago in Moab my dash was lit up like Christmas!

My truck is experiencing a bunch of stuff but the service 4wd is one of them. Dealer is replacing a module I believe they listed as a drivetrain control module. Which happens to be over a week away so I’m stuff limping it around till then.
