The doors are all done. Last thing to do is shorten the roof rack tomorrow. I'm pretty pleased with myself. $400 and some arts and crafts for a cool lightweight topper. The side doors make it so easy to access the bed. It was made for a Toyota 6 foot bed. The width is pretty good, and its just a little higher than the cab.

Project is complete. I figure the roof rack is good for 300 pounds or so. The bed access is terrific. well worth the time to shorten the topper.

Flip up side doors no matter what kind of cap someone has is awesome access is great, I have a cap with flip up doors, love it. Your cap turned out great, good job!....jack

The truck topper project continues. Mounted a shovel, axe and water bucket to the inside of my drivers side topper door. Out of the way and secure but easy to access when needed.

Fabricated some awning mounts and bolted it on. Its an older ARB 2000X2500 with awning room.

Looks great, every time I see this thread I just wonder , if you had a few beers more and looked around how that Land Rover rear “cap” would have looked. I know why kill the Rover but it just looks like doing something at front and it might be cool. I really like the shovel and axe inside, I like everything inside dry and safe…..Jack

An interesting idea. But yes it would be a shame to sacrifice that tropical top. I might have to do some measuring just to check it out.

After vacillating back and forth for the last few months about a RTT or building a Go fast copy. A RTT that fits my narrow topper rack came up locally for a very good price. Much cheaper than the cost of materials for a go fast camper clone. So just like that its on the truck. I need to paint the top white to reflect some Arizona heat. Does anyone know what will stick to this ABS plastic?

Really nice @Alaskantinbender ; your build inspired me to keep searching for a contractor cap and I finally found one and picked it up last weekend. I don't have your welding skills so I had to wait for one that already fit (was previously on an '05 Chevy Colorado).

stick to abs, i have used this. 3M Adhesion Promoter.
