I'm only about 5'6" tall, not young, and want some kind of step into the truck.

I'm having a hard time deciding between something like a running board or rock rail with nerf bar (like the DV8 or Go Rhino Dominator), or something with a drop step like the Iron Cross Sidearm or N-Fab Podium.

I think I like the looks of the running boards mentioned above, but now that I have the truck, I would still have to lift my foot fairly high to use them compared to something with a drop step.

Anybody regret getting or not getting drop steps?

Hey Scott I am almost your exact same height. Am 5’ 5” tall. Was born short. I have N-Fab Predator Pro steps on my truck, love em. I use them every time getting in and out. Also make good use of the factory grab handles, really helps.

I haven't read the posted thread above, but depending on what your doing with your Gladiator, have you considered Rock Slide Engineering? That way you have the rock rails for that clean look, then the drop step when you need it.

I did look at various power steps, but the very idea makes me feel old and feeble, neither of which I am (yet lol)

They are also very expensive - more than I would pay for any design...

Haha, yea I understand. And yes, price is a huge factor. Good luck, post pictures when you decide.

I came to the same conclusion, mainly in response to my wife having a hard time getting in and out. I don’t like the look of running boards, had nerf bars on my last rig, so this time I went with a contoured drop step rail from Rough Country. Really low price compared to everything else, and they function great (despite the install being a little bit of a hassle)
