I’d be curious to see how much I could buff out of that fender. My PS front fender looked like that after someone hit it in a parking lot and I buffed it all out other than two small black dots that went through the paint. A little touch up and I even forget about it sometimes. I figured that if I paid to have it repainted that it would just happen again.

This is assuming that fender clips and supports aren’t broken. I had to take my fender flare off and put new clips on and re install it. I also had to plastic weld one of the inner supports back together that you apparently can’t buy without buying a whole new fender flare. That was the only part that sucked, but I fixed it strong and it’s hidden well inside the fender structure under the wheel liner.

He’ll be 1/4 of the way there!
Get the insurance to pay for new paint matched fenders (don't know if you've seen body shop rates these days but good god) and he can buy tires, wheels, the fender chop kit, and an AEV 2" lift (or whatever combo of parts he wants to spend the money on).

It’s just super hard to get direct repair shops to bend the rules like that when the majority of their business comes from insurance companies and they depend on them to survive. Most won’t risk it. Although, his claim looks pretty straightforward unless there’s something we are missing in the pics. I’d probably cut and buff that fender and see how it came out and make sure it’s on there tight. Mine rattled and was kinda droopy. If that fender buffed out I’d probably take the check and fix it myself. Personal preference, but I wouldn’t fender chop it. It’s too new, valuable, and nice looking stock. 35s on the stock wheels would look great though. That’s all I’d do. It took me over 5 yrs to modify mine past tires and other small mods. lol

Some prefer to wait for warranty to run out, use up the stock tires, etc. I am usually ordering parts while waiting at the dealer to sign paperwork. Depends on use, personal preference, and what you want out of it. With as long as the JT is coming from a JLUR that was also lifted I knew stock wasn't going to work for me.

Repair estimate came back at about $4K from the USAA preferred shop.

2 fender flares with paint
Mirror with blind spot
1 wheel
2 tires (they included the front tire due to a scuffed sidewall)
Buffing on the door where the mirror got pushed into it

I prefer the good old “brake check” method for ass riders, nothing better than watching their front bumper plowing a new corn row down the pavement. 😁
Too many dash cams to fool around with doing this.

It can’t see the little cute kitty in my lane in front of my ride during the corn planting going on behind me. 😁
If they are following too close their dashcam will show that too. "I braked for the giant pothole (very believable on every road in CA), what do you mean the guy behind me complained?"

That’s awesome. Your adjuster hooked you up.

Now that you got the insurance company involved, Your Gladiator is scared for life. OH IT'S BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. Now it's worth 20% less.
In the settlement claim diminished value, that will help some.
If it's only cosmetic damage and you want to upgrade it, that $1K deductible could've gone to the purchase of new parts.
I've done this a couple times.

Sounds like the other driver was at fault, so no deductible. Never avoid a claim when some non-driving idiot hits you. Stupid should hurt, even if it's only financially.

You open up the door for liability or partial liability when you brake check.

Someone else breaking the law doesn't excuse you from breaking the law.

Braking for potholes isn't illegal...prove it was a brake check. It doesn’t matter if I stop on the freeway, if you hit me you were following to close. Now if I swerve in front of you and brake I am liable or partially. If I brake hard in my own lane, unless I'm dumb enough to say I braked because you were too close, I'm not liable period. You failed to maintain a safe following distance.
