Skipped factory bedliner for aftermarket: Cheaper, Thicker, and Lifetime Warranty

I decided to get my Gladiator without the factory bedliner, after looking at it on another rig. It was thin, unimpressive, and didn’t seem like it would be very long-lasting or durable. After looking into the aftermarket spray-on bedliner with the most notable reputation and warranty, I was stoked to find the price was less than the factory option. The line had been drawn.
My bedliner will be sprayed at 1/8” thick with a lifetime warranty. I saw videos showing it tested on military vehicles from bomb blasts, science experiments on famous TV shows, and other crazy places like wind tunnels to test against tornado debris!
Cheaper and far better that only takes 3 hours for them to complete. It’s set to be applied on Tuesday and I’ll post pictures next week.

You left out the most important parts!

Which bedliner did you choose?

Pricing?

I didn’t want to sound like some corporate schill.
Yes, Line-X.
Pricing is set at $457 for the Gladiator (“...for the under the rail application)
I’m getting it done at the Winston-Salem location in NC.
Price includes removing/replacing any rails, lights, power, etc.

I’m curious if anyone else with past experience agrees with Rubidozer’s assessment that the OEM coating is too thin. I’ve only had trucks with drop in liners or a BedRug.

That jibes with what I was quoted by the Line X installer in Mobile minus a 15% military discount.

I just had my bed done in LineX on Weds. Definitely looks and feels more substantial than factory. Difference between a 3 year warranty and lifetime/transferable. Very happy with the job done. $525 and they did it while I waited in 1.5 hrs. They would have, but I pulled the tonneau, rail system and bed tiedowns. They pulled the tailgate panels, 110 outlet, masked the bed lights. Bed front top edge was coated, bed sprayed up under the rail caps and over any plastic bed caps. None of these seemed important to be removable. All threaded holes were plugged before spraying. No issues putting things back in place.
I don't think it is an 1/8” thick.

I used to get my spray in bed liners done locally instead of ordering. I had one experience where they accidentally damaged some of the hardware in the bed when removing for spraying. Then I realized that I don't use my truck bed as hard as some so even if the factory was thinner I thought I should be fine. Since then I just have the factory installed and I have had no problems. I do see the advantage in a lifetime warranty but I honestly do not see how "i" would need any warranty on the bed liner for my use.

I ordered mine without the factory bedliner because some Gladiators are getting it whether it is ordered or not. If they give me something I didn't order it's free. If they leave it off, I will get the Line-X like you did.

Around here the aftermarket liners are a couple hundred more than factory. One of those your mileage may vary things.

I was quoted $399 in Burlington NC last week when I got my windows tinted. Lifetime warranty and a shop recommended by a friend of mine. They did a really good job on the tint.

I dont know anything anout the factory bedliner, but my j10 has line x and have been hauling stuff in it for years. I wouldn't want just a painted bed, once you put something in it its gonna get scratched and thats gonna rust.

Agree, i just noticed two bubbles in my spray in bedliner, think quality might have been lacking

After looking closely at my bed, I’ve noticed it isn’t sealed at the seams very well. It’s caught a lot of sandy looking debris in the cracks.
The factory option just didn’t look any different than the painted one. But the coating on my JK factory rock rails was fairly tough for a while.
I just see this JT like my utility knife as a kind of multi-tool, like the Jeeps the old ranchers and farmers drove.
