Hey there, just wondering if anyone's come across any slide-in camper options, and if so, are they all pop-up types, or are there some hard shells out there as well? I do know that they exist for mid-sized pickups, despite the fact most of the market is aimed at full sized models, though most of the offerings I've seen so far are for other manufacturers, the Tacoma being a popular platform for these. And yes, most of the ones out there for other manufacturers are for mid-sized pickups with a 6 foot bed, but there are a few that would fit a 5 foot box as well, though the makers of the campers seem to make their measurements specifically for the model that the camper is to be mated to.

What's the weight capacity for the sleeping area, can you get to it just by climbing in through the door in the back, and is it something that could be easily removable (with a hoist or something) so the truck can be used as a daily driver between trips?

Some shots of the interior would be nice! :like:

I don't know the bed area weight limit. I do believe there is access to the “loft” from the truck bed.
Probably can find answers here.

Wouldn't be super tough removing but it is not your traditional slide in camper.
Go Fast Campers also makes something similar.

I looked at their site, and they are listing specific models for their 5 foot version, the JT isn't even listed on if they support it or not.

From the above link said:
The Project M camper can be ordered for both mid-size and full-size trucks. While this truck topper is compatible with mid-size trucks, a Jeep Gladiator model won’t be ready until early 2020.

I went with the GoFast Camper GFC, probably not what you were thinking but it works for my needs.
1) Has to fit in standard height residential garage
2) Stay mounted 24-7 but still have room in bed to haul items and to truck stuff.
3) Sleep 2 and a dog(below) and out of the elements
4) be able to secure items in bed
5) have a way to mount an awning that can be easy on/off
Load capacity for the top is 500lbs and the struts are rated to lift and hold 75-100lbs if utilizing the roof rack crossbars. The weight is 250lbs and can be removed with 4-5 adults and removing 6 bolts.

From the owner's manual page 14:

CAMPERS This vehicle is NOT recommended for slide-in camper applications.

Right after this on page 13:

ROLLOVER WARNING Utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate than other types of vehicles. This vehicle has a higher ground clearance and a higher center of gravity than many passenger vehicles. It is capable of performing better in a wide variety of off-road applications. Driven in an unsafe manner, all vehicles can go out of control. Because of the higher center of gravity, if this vehicle is out of control it may roll over while some other vehicles may not. Do not attempt sharp turns, abrupt maneuvers, or other unsafe driving actions that can cause loss of vehicle control. Failure to operate this vehicle safely may result in a collision, rollover of the vehicle, and severe or fatal injury. Drive carefully.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that, this type of warning is written in most of the trucks user manual, 1/2, 3/4,and even 1 ton, this is like a waiver.. Common senses
Is always a good start
Cheers
