Mine was ~16K with lots of mods,
Impressive... it starts at $8400, so I just use that as the price point. Good point that you can jump higher than that easily.

I love that it's all raw materials that are easily tapped into. I can see in the options list that you could easily jump up to $16k (so many options) but also that many of those options are fairly trivial to implement on your own as time goes by if you have a shop, the tools and the desire to tinker as you go. I'm currently going for a low weight build with a Softopper, Xtrusion Overland rack and a GFC Superlite which keeps my whole setup under 200 lbs (and price under $4k) but if I can ever convince myself and my wife that I want to spend more, the Ovrlnd is the top of my list for that next step. I don't need something "huckable."

For anybody running this type of set up, I highly recommend the air lift bags that go inside of the rear springs. Night and day difference in on road handling for me. About $100, easily installed in an hour and a half or so, and excellent bang for the buck. I don’t typically flex out the suspension on the gladiator so I can’t comment on that aspect, but for the overlanding I do they have been a huge improvement

Oh I also forgot taxes, $1500 of that $16K was AZ sales tax. Some states Montanans can recoup sales taxes from (WA, maybe ID), but not AZ.

OVRLNDs upgrades were reasonable compared to FWC, FWC puts margin on top of any resold item for an upgrade. So OVRLND may charge $300 for a Widget, which is MSRP, and will install one you find for $150 on sale, but FWC will add a $100+ on top of MSRP. AT also seemed reasonable, but I don't think you can buy your own mods. AT is also "dangerous" because they make so many spendy accessories like slick propane and fuel mounts.

I think I've posted photos and listed my mods somewhere on this forum, but here's my list and some pictures I posted on EP:

Well, my build is finally getting painted. It's been a long year building this thing.

This is awesome! How are you dealing with the bed flex??
I get that question every week. Check out my build forum by clicking below.

Basically I designed in 1/2" allowance of flex at the door seam (close to the bed seam). If it flexes more than that I've got some backup plans.

Awesome, I'll check out the thread!

I bet it is a common question, that's the main "obstacle" given by companies/people when asked about designing a topper like this. Super interested to see how it does when you start using it :jk:

Here's my photoshopped drawing. I need to update this without the window and seam line. I added braces, so that I can cut the seam line in later if needed. Also decided to leave out the side window, as it's location doesn't work with the interior layout. The freedom tops still open.

It's back from paint. Just need to reassemble the hatchback, bed platform, and pop up mechanism, and she''ll be ready.

Hey guys/gals -

Here is another option for the topper camper crowd. I have one being built atm, and it will be their first JT. I explored everything possible for the past 5 months and landed on these guys due to their lead time, hardwall design, and being <10 mins from house to talk with them, have them fix or customize as needed. Should get mine at the end of July. Let me know if you have any questions!

This was posted on the Facebook group for Gladiator Camping:

It's a Palomino SS500.

I did also recently see another thread here saying that the Jeep manual explicitly states, do not use with a slide-in camper. For whatever that's worth.
The idea of not putting a slide in on the gladiator is BS. There are so many that have done it effectively.
