How much does this weigh?We packed up and rolled out of town (Corona hysteria) and went to the woods.

It tows just fine, not like my F350 did, but passable.
If I went 4.88 even better since I have 37” on the Jeep.
I only tow it from storage to the one site we go to with it. I don’t think it would be safe to fill the car with people and tow it though. The tongue weight is probably 700lbs.

Taking 77 to get there? I havent had to take mine on highways yet since I am mostly backroads to where I need to go. But I can tell you the JT hates going up hill and you will fill the trailer push you and have to manually apply the brakes. These were some especially steep hills. I wouldn't expect the hills in most of WV to be an issue for you, but the part in Virginia where you go up and down the steep grade are going to be slow and a little stressfull.

My thought would be if I pull the trigger on the gladiator I'd get the dual top. Spring-fall would be the soft top to save some weight. I would also take the spare and propane tanks and put them inside over the axles. My storage is upfront but that's fishing poles and hoses. We typically put all the gear and stuff for the trip on the back bunks. With me the wife kids and dogs we would eat up about 600lbs of payload. Removing the spare and the soft top over the hard top should get us 80 or so lbs back I would think. I will definitely get a brake controller. Already have a WDH but may get a smaller one as mine is overkill for a gladiator 14k lbs lol. And I would probably do some sort of air bag as I'll be doing some sort of lift to fit my wheels from my truck but would likely put the stocks back on for this trip as I can imagine 24x14s with 35s @121lbs would kill the gladiator towing. I really want a ecodiesel. Anyone know what the highest payload is with the eco?

The diesel is rated for 6500 or 6000 depending on trim. The Rubicon is 6000. Payload takes a hit as well.

Getting ready for our first tow with the Gladiator. It’s a bit squatty in the back, so I’ll need to get a WDH, but this trip is a pretty short one, so it’ll wait until we get back. 3,000 lbs dry and probably sitting 3,300 lbs or so empty, but with stuff in it. I’m sitting on a hill in the picture, so the squat is probably over exaggerated.
