I keep saying that I bought a JTR even though it was out of my price range because it is my dream vehicle. So why do I think I need to stick another $11K into it? So far this is my list . I think my best bet is to save up for the lift and then the rest will come much easier. I won't spend $15 on a stubby antennae until I get the lift kit and American Adventure Lab parts. It has been 3 months since I bought anything for my truck and it is not easy :crying:

Because the internet has convinced us that we NEED all this super-awesome expensive stuff. I remember staring at a JC Whitney catalog dreaming about stuff for my first CJ. Now there are websites, forums, social media and YouTube to tempt us. It’s like they’re trying to control our minds for their own profit...

JC Whitney used to have the best catalogs! Air-cooled VW, FTW!

Probably because you’re new at this and the list is t complete?
Yeah, this. My list is about $9k just for the lift, and all that goes to it... (lift, wheels/tires, regear) Then add the functional items about another $8k (bumpers, winch, topper, armor, recovery...)

If it helps, I have the RK 3" pro-x (non coilover) and it has A LOT of flex. so you could save about 3K there. Super smooth as well.

Pls still like me
Pics or it doesn't exist...

I have a Jeep and a coupe Harleys it’s dangerous situation but so far with the Jeep “I’m the master of my domain”

I bought a sport s Assuming I would want to build it up. There are things I want to do but honestly I’ve been good at putting it off until tomorrow. So far I’m on month 13 of ownership and the only thing I’ve done is remove and throw away the filler pieces cees on the front bumper. when the tires need replacing I’ll get some rubi take offs from the dealership.
Someone is always trying to convince me I cant live with out some part. to them ”not today Isis”

I’ll start ordering shit if I ever need a tow truck to come get me cause I’m stuck

i understand I’m not the norm but maybe I can help you stay somewhere in the middle

No flexy pics as I tend to go out on my own, but it does very well so far.

Don't have my MC rear bumper and bed guards on in this yet tho.

Definitely like the look, and I'm sure the design is very nice offroad. After much research, it is the lift I've decided on, this coming summer I will be starting on the build... hopefully all/most of the stock gremlins will be chased out by then. (steering and rear window leak.)

If you're prioritizing your spending then you could probably hold off on the skid plate system and the inner fenders, etc.

While a skid plate system is nice, it's expensive and depending on the wheeling you're going to be doing (and how often) you just might not need it.

That's a short list of stuff. With the lift and 38's you are going to want to regear to 5.13's. I have the RK 3" lift with 37's. The regearing made if funner to drive and it quit hunting for 7th and 8th gear.

Then you need HD trackbar and tie rod, steering stabilizer, rock sliders, front and rear bumpers, winch, recovery gear, bed rack or canopy, lights, on-board air, ...

yeah, your list is way too short.

I guess the real question is what's the long term goal? For example I traded in a 2012 JKU Sport that I easily blew 15-20K on to have a legit rock crawler sporting 12" King coilovers and 37's. It did exactly what I wanted but I knew it was going to cost me over the course of owning the Jeep. My tastes have since changed and I really enjoy a more laid back experience and take in the backcountry and what it offers. I have found that with a leveling kit and some 32's I am getting into the backcountry so far with no issues.
I'm not worrying bout breaking a chromoly shaft or whether I'm going to need to tack on more armor and instead making choices on what meals I want to have on my trip and whether the sunset over the Grand Canyon is better or worse than the sunset over Engineer's Pass in Colorado. The money I have in this Jeep also pales in comparison to what was in my crawler and that's money in my pocket for more experiences in the Jeep instead of sitting at home wishing and waiting.
The list you've got can be done in stages but go back to the first question, what's your long term goal?
