Spare tire lock installed?

has anyone installed the spare tire lock - 82216081AA? Curious how the lock adaptor (‘A’ in diagrams ) is attached to ensure it doesn’t just fall off.

I just ran a cable through the rim and locked it to the hitch using a locking hitch pin.

There has to be much more important things to worry about than having someone steal your spare tire from underneath your Gladiator.

Until you wake up one morning and your matching rim and $300 tire have been lowered and taken. Happens all the time to trucks around here.

I just installed it on mine on Christmas Day. There is a rubber o ring on there that along with the friction fit of the adapter keeps it in place. I tested it by inserting and removing the handle with key multiple times and it stays in place just fine.

Around here, bulldozers, excavators get taken, large contractor type tool boxes taken out of trucks, tires taken off vehicles.......... and around parts of Chicago or Rockford........ you just don't leave your vehicle.
We woke up one morning to find all of our Christmas decorations missing from the yard - BIG stuff, just 20 feet from the front window, a friend had his hand gun taken from his vehicle. (how someone knew it was there, dunno)
