Well, it is a SPARE after all, and its not like it is in plain sight (JK / JL) . My Dodge 1500 (2003) also had the under carriage steel wheel spare. In 13 years I only had to use it once - 1 day, enough time to get the "good wheel" tire fixed, then back under the spare went . . . never to be seen again !As you all know Wizzard005 posted some pictures of 2 Gobi color Gladiators from a new Fast & Furious movie. And of interest to me is the steel wheels this one rides on. And as you will see from his under carriage pictures of the spare it’s the exact same wheel. So I went to to Jeep build site and I built a Rubicon with the expensive wheels as an option. And it looks like you only get just 4 of those wheels. It shows that a steel wheel is what the spare is. So I then looked at a Los Angeles show Rubicon and the spare on that one appears to be the same steel wheel. If you want a spare that looks like the other 4 tires then I don’t think you will get that unless you make your dealer make that a part of the deal. I just don’t like having mismatched looking wheels on my ride.
So much for 5 tire rotation...As you all know Wizzard005 posted some pictures of 2 Gobi color Gladiators from a new Fast & Furious movie. And of interest to me is the steel wheels this one rides on. Other than wranglers, that hasn’t really been a thing on any vehicle since the 80s... most pickups with under bed spares come with cheap steelies- sometimes smaller than the other 4.So much for 5 tire rotation...
Can you buy spare wheels from jeep? I know I can for my Pacifica, but not sure on jeep.I think Jeep needs to add a steelie wheel option with a $2000 deduction to MSRP.
totally agree. i will say though you do have to keep up with paiting or plasti dipping steelies since they do get ugly fast especially if you live anywhere that salts the roads.I think Jeep needs to add a steelie wheel option with a $2000 deduction to MSRP.
Do aluminum wheels have the same issue? If not, I want a set of aluminum wheels to look just like the steel spares..totally agree. i will say though you do have to keep up with paiting or plasti dipping steelies since they do get ugly fast especially if you live anywhere that salts the roads.
Hi all, anyone know how much the spare tire and wheel weigh? If it’s comparable to the stock aluminum wheels, then that seems like a great option if you like the look of themOther than wranglers, that hasn’t really been a thing on any vehicle since the 80s... most pickups with under bed spares come with cheap steelies- sometimes smaller than the other 4.
OTOH, I might be willing to part with my 4 stock rims to trade with 4 owners for their steelies and a few extra $$. They’d get a matching set of alloys and I’d have a matching set of steelies. Meessa like..
