There was a lot of Spiderweb discussion on the ‘other’ Alienware thread…so I thought I’d start a new one.

Ordered the JTkini off Amazon and installed it last night and am happy with it so far!

Of all the videos & instructional information I’ve seen - its obvious, this thing has gone thru some changes. Someone posted photos of the ‘new’ nubbins…… so I was expecting to see them in the kit. Nope…. They’ve changed. My shade came with 8 aluminum nubbins - of which, you only need to use 6.

Install was easy. One person and you don‘t have to drop the windshield. Grab a bath towel from the bathroom and roll it up…. Rest the windshield on that while you attach the 4 windshield bungees. After putting the windshield bungees in….I immediately went to the rear corners. I used their supplied orange string to help fish the corner bungee under the hard top to the back. There are two potential screws to use in the back - I chose to use the farthest one for more tension. I have those 2 extra nubbins installed on both screws back there. The two side bungees are self explanatory.

It’s a little fiddly when you go to install the freedom panels back in. You have to move the edges out of the way. Granted, we’d only installed them ONCE after we installed the shade. So…I’m sure there’s a method to the madness, I just haven’t discovered it yet (especially for my weak arms).

Took if for a short rip around the neighborhood…25mph… It moves a little bit but you don’t ‘hear it’ (per say).

For those who own one….. How’s it perform going 60-70mph? Does it flap in the back (no bungees)?
Do ya’ll remove it over the winter? I’ll probably remove it….to save the bungees and my windshield seals. 😉

I have a 2 cheapie sun shades sitting in my garage that I haven't installed yet, I have 2 because no matter what brand you go with the sun still burns my head, so I use two to block it out, did this to all my Jeeps  . But, do you have to move the windshield like that, isn't there enough space to push the bungee through the rollbars and windshield or no?

If you were using the Alienshade…..the bungees slip thru the seals and wrap around to the front and attach to itself (balls).

With the Spidershade - the front bungees have ‘hooks’. They hook to front of the frame/sheetmetal. They don’t wrap around to the front.

I was actually thinking of ’doubling up’ (or something) for more rain protection. I think we’d just pull over and put the freedom panels back on. Who knows…
