St. Pete Beach, Florida - can drive on the beaches in that area?

I wasn't sure where I needed to post this, please move to the Florida section if needed.

My family and I are going to be spending a couple of days in St. Pete Beach. I have been asked several times by the kids if we can drive on the beaches in that area. I have searched google and can't find a straight answer. So if there is anyone down that way, can you please enlighten me and let me know if there are any trails in that are?

Like he said, no driving on St Pete beach. Only official vehicles are allowed on the beach.

I've asked friends and family in that area, from what I gather you cannot drive on long beaches in the Tampa St Pete area.

I believe @bleda2002 is from that area - any input my friend?

Unfortunately there is no driving on the gulf side of Florida. Only beach driving that I know of is in Daytona Beach, and then select locations in Jacksonville.

While you are down there you definitely want to watch the red tide reports (https://myfwc.com/research/redtide/statewide/), if you get the chance go to Fort Desoto State Park. Check Google...

Volusia County, ie: New Smyrna and Daytona Beach still offers some areas to drive on the beach. Every year is a fight to keep them open. Jeep Beach has played an active role in fighting for us. It now costs $20 to get on the beach if you are not a county resident.

Just this past month the south end of Daytona Beach has gotten pretty rough and they had signs up "4x4 only" and was turning people around. It made for a nice drive all the way to Port Orange with no traffic to contend with.

I know St. Augustine has 4x4 recommended on a lot of their beaches.

May be a bit of a drive for you from St Pete but Ocala National Forest has a Jeep trail. Also near there is Hardrock Offroad park.
