Once or twice a year the wife and I take a weekend away, the hotel we stay at has an underground parking garage (IIRC, the clearance is listed as 6ft or so) and we've never taken the Jeep because I'm not certain it will FIT.

Now, her Forester with additional roof bars fits fine, I can walk without having to ever duck (and I'm just over 6ft,) so I'm thinking the Jeep might fit.

So the question is, has anyone parked their Gladiator in an underground parking garage and had no issues? Aboveground garages I wouldn't be concerned about, as the clearance in those tends to be significantly higher (the garage at my workplace, the clearance is probably 10ft) I do realize what's likely to be the bigger headache is going to be the left/right space and getting IN a parking spot, but if I have to "Austin Powers" my way in or go all the way to the lowest level to find a spot with no one next to it, I will...

You’re probably better calling the hotel and asking them…”What’s the clearance?” to be sure…… because that might vary from hotel to hotel.

Or just be prepared to park somewhere else if it doesn’t fit.

There's a whole can of worms when it comes to parking garages.

You have Federal ADA guidelines and local codes.

For ADA there has to be 8'-2" from floor to lowest overhead.

Most areas 7' is standard from floor to lowest overhead.

Some areas allow 6'-6" from floor to lowest overhead.

In any of these cases, a stock height JT will fit.

I don't know for a fact, but I'm pretty sure 7ft is the minimum height in most building codes for public parking garages.

Edit: Kev beat me to it

I think if you are under 7 ft, you are fine. I would call and ask though. When I had my Mojave, I went to Austin in it after I put 35s on it and had to park it on an underground garage. It fit. I would still call.

So it's sounding like I'm overthinking things, and unless the garage is VERY unusual, there shouldn't be a problem.

But I will take the advice to call the hotel to heart and give them a ring to find out exactly what the clearance is.

I have a Rubicon, no lift, BFG KO2s in 315/70R17. At 35psi, my overhead clearance is 6' 3" at the roofline, plus an extra 3/4" for my bed rack.

Here in Boston, there are lots of garages that are posted with less than 6' 3" clearance, and some with taller clearances where some parking spaces have sprinkler pipes or other issues that bring clearance down. Measure your clearance and seek out a garage that's posted as being taller... But still look before backing in!

This is 8' and although it didn't look like it fit. I had to slide all the way to the left side to avoid rubbing my solar panels. Edit: 2.5 Clayton Overland lift and Rubicon take off tires.

I’ve parked in a lot of 6’7” clearance garages. It’s close but it fits. I’m basically stock, but slightly higher. Rubicon LE suspension on 285/70/18s. I’m used to it now, but it used to be very uncomfortable.

Air down.

I haven't had any problems with height but sometimes the turns and fitting into the spaces are challenges. Stock Overland.

Stock sport S here, no lift but on 33s. I haven't found a spot it won't fit yet.

My garage is like 6'7" or 6'8", my Gladiator with 3" lift and 37's clears with about an inch.

the garage at work is higher, has plenty of room.

Best rule is, if you have any doubts about clearance, don't try to park there. I can tell you as a retired Civil/Structural Engineer that many or most parking garages ten years old or older have undoubtedly been retrofit with additional plumbing and other utilities that are supported from beneath the floors above. If you can't be sure of the clearance, don't try to park there.
