Question for all you more experienced Gladiator Tire swapping gents. I bought a loaded Overland last November. It doesn't see trails as it's my main driver to and from work (100 miles a day). I'm going to need tires probably by summer......at which point I want to get bigger ones on, if nothing else, but to visually fill out the wheel wells better. I do like the stock Overland wheels, and I don't want to install a lift......... so what is the tallest / widest tire I can put on, and not have clearance issues?

And to go further, what brand recommendations, for tires that look like they belong on a Jeep, but are relatively quiet on the highway?

You're going to get different opinions on the tire size. I've seen up to 35s and reportedly no rub. You can definitely do a 285/70/18

I spent a ton of time researching this topic. Ended up going with 285/70r17 in Ridge Grapplers. I wanted something with a more aggressive look, filled up the space a little more, capable when I need (grippy and gives room for articulation), but not overly loud or annoying when driving. For me, this tire nailed it on my stock Sport S. I personally think anything bigger looks silly on stock, but to each their own.

your set-up is what I am leaning toward for tire brand and size. Do you have a pic you could share of your tires on your Jeep?

I found some Mojave take offs on here for $580 that are 285/75/17” with rims for my stock Overland. They fit like a glove.

That looks great. I just kept the stock 18” wheels and put 275/70/18s Dueler A/T Revo 3s on it, which is roughly the same size (slightly bigger). I’m very happy with the look. Rear/Front Dirty/Clean

Looks good NC.......now that you have the 275's with stock rims on your Overland, can you tell if maybe you could have gone to a 285 or bigger without rubs?

Yes, easily could have. That's only a 33.5" tire. I thought about 285s, but the tire I chose, after a lot of research, doesn't offer it in 285/70/18, I would have had to go up to a 295/70/18, which is almost a 35 and I didn't want to push it.

FWIW, with an 18" wheel, those 275/70/18s are about 1/2" bigger than the Rubicon "33s", which aren't quite 33s in actuality.

Any speedo issues since the 275/70/18's? I'm thinking about going the same direction.

Waze says it’s off 2 mpg at 80 mph, so nothing significant.

I just averaged 20.5 mpg on a 1000 mile road trip including some city driving and flogging the crap out of if on a few mountain passes so I’m pleased with that. I think my engine finally broke in after beating it mercilessly those few times.

Hello all, I recently purchased 35x12.5x18 Toyo open country at 3 for my 2020 overland north edition. I also have purchased the mopar 2 inch lift. My question is if I get the wheels and tires installed the day before the lift is installed. Am I going to run into trouble for that day having the 35s on stock suspension? Or should I just get lift installed then the next day do tires and wheels? Only issue with the latter is I’ll have to take it back to have the truck calibrated to the new wheels/tires. Thanks

You'll have to get it recalibrated regardless of the order in which you do the two tasks, correct? As has been noted throughout other parts of this forum, you may want to invest in your own module/app (Tazer Mini, etc.) to undertake the calibration yourself. My experience was that I had to try out 4-5 different tire sizes within the Tazer Mini until the speedo was correctly calibrated - what I mean to say is, it would suck to pay someone to do the calibration, only to find it's wrong or even slightly off. Trust me - simply selecting a tire size (within a module or app) won't guarantee calibration; it takes some playing around with to get it right.
