What up everyone new here, just picked up a 2020 JT. It was a great lease offer so I could not refuse. But my only deal breaker where those hideous stock rims and tires, I wanted to go home and punch my dog because they where so fugly. But started looking on the forums and realized that it was actually the tire that made it look like one of those 1990s Lego Wheels. So my question, with my stock rim and max tow package which tire would you guys recommend? It would be a daily driver, minimal off-roading if ever, and just want an aggressive jeep look. With all the numbers flying around I did see a pic with 285/70/17 that looked great. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Jeep Newbie Kris

Rubicon tires on a Max Tow look great. That said, to me, 35s are better and adding rubicon fender flares is best.

32" Falken MTs (slightly smaller than stock Rubicon tires)

The 285/70-17 would be your best all around for looks if you're not lifting and have little to no plans of going offroad. A 35 will be a small but noticeable change to daily drivability.

Patriot looks great but that second pic with those tires are awesome looking. What are they? Also what is the difference in Sport S and Rubicon fenders?

Falken MT01 35x12.5x17

the rubicon flares add 2”’ of clearance and have different light brackets and liners

285 is a 33" tall. 35" is the same as the 315/70

Standard tire sizes (American) are H x W x rim diameter. So, 35x12.50r17 = 35” tall x 12.50” tread width r(rim diameter) 17”.

Metric is different... 315/75r17 = 315mm (tread width) x 75mm (distance from rim lip to top of tread) r (rim) 17”.

In a 315/70-17, 315 is the tread width, yes, but the 70 is the percentage of the tire width. So the height from lip to top is 70% of the 315 width.

315/70r17 vs. 35x12.50r17.... 6 in one hand, half-dozen in the other. Most (not all) 35x12.50r17 designated tires are E-rated. Most 315/70r17 are D-rated. Just something to look at, if you’re looking for something specific.

Don't worry about D vs E for towing with a gladiator. The tires that come on a max tow are passenger rated and they're enough for towing the max you're rated for. Any C,D, or E load rating will be perfectly fine.
