STORY //

I have always been a car person for as long as I remember. Moving from countries to countries, we have owned quite a bit of different cars in the family. My first own vehicle was a '89 Honda Accord LX. After that there was quite a huge upgrade to my beloved, '11 Subaru WRX STI Sedan. I purchased the STI, in 2012 and through out the years, has served me very well. Was able to do everything in the car, from getting married to support a kid and all sorts of trips. I am most thankful for the life-long friends I have met along my Subaru Journey. But after 165,xxx+(km) it was time to build the car. The car was chipped and only Stage 2 Supporting an Exhaust, Air Intake, AOS and a few other needed Subaru goodies. In late 2019, I was getting mixed feelings about building the car, just future family plans and other world events made me decide to go into #Overlanding.

I have always been an outdoor person, and ever since we moved to Canada back in '95 my parents made an effort to take us to lakes, retreats and road trips almost every weekend. While juggling 3 jobs and being in a new country. So I wanted to get back into that field again. For myself, my wife and our new family.

I live in Beautiful British Columbia Canada, and it would be a shame not to be able to use my backyard to explore and experience the great outdoors. BC has over 70,000(km) of FSR(Forest Service Roads) so would be a waste not to use them. But before getting the JT, there were a few drawbacks.

I originally placed an order for a '20 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro(Army Green), This was back in Feb 2020 and have not heard from the dealer about any information on the vehicle for almost 6 months. I had to enter the mid-sized truck market because of my garage. The entrance to my garage is only 82 Inches high, so I have to be able to fit a #overland vehicle with the RTT(Roof Top Tent) into the garage. At the time the JT was way out of my price range, but as time went on and as I kept #overlanding with friends. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a fully loaded '20 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon (Bright White). I am not going to lie, still like the styling of the Tacoma better. But overall the Jeep just made more sense, I am sacrificing a little bit of comfort to get honestly the better off-road vehicle.

So here is it, I am going to be documenting the build and gear I will be using for my #overlanding adventures.

Hopefully you have enjoyed my little story, and enjoy the build. Thank you.

Build / Part List and Plans
Plan: Overland / Camping Build, I will not be shy with this vehicle doing off-roading and actual 4x4. I am just not too interested in doing rock crawling. Also the build is on a very tight height limit which is a shit deal to be honest. My Garage door opening is 82" Inches high. So everything has to fit under that with the RTT on the bed rack. Its quite the challenge and everything requires measuring like 50 times.

Mod List / Numbered List

#001 - Mopar Performance Bumper Front Rubicon
#002 - Mopar All Weather Rubber Mats
#003 - Mopar Tonneau Cover Soft Roll Up
#004 - Quadratec Grab Handles

#006 - Vector Offroad - JL E-Dock / Gladiator Full Width
#007 - KB Voodoo Fabrication MAX Modular Truck Bed Rack 10"
#008 - 23.Zero Walkabout 62 Queen RTT

Mod #004 - Quadratec Grab Handles
Mod LINK // Quadratec Part #: 14018.1032 // Completed Jul 22 / 2020
Build Quality is ok, they are not too expensive but for my first set of handles its not bad. They do hit the window when off-roading, so all you need to do is twist them further 1-2 times. But its not too bad. I do like the way they are using the mounting holes for the original bar.

WARN Epic Trail Gear MOLLE Storage Bag

I really like the look of the bags, and since I will be getting a WARN Winch in the near future I though for now it would be a perfect fit for the vehicle. Quality is really nice and has quite a bit of storage inside.

Awesome Bar, I knew I needed something that would handle the gear that I am going to throw into the cockpit. The bar is very well made and though out. Easy Install and it looks really nice. It comes with 1" Diameter tubing, and I added the 67.Designs Phone holder. Check out 67.Designs amazing products.

Mod #007 - KB Voodoo Fabrication MAX Modular Truck Bed Rack 10"
Mod LINK // Completed Jul 27 / 2020
KB Voodoo Fabrications Modular Truck bed rack is quite nice. I purchased the 10" one because with all the measuring and RTT on top it has to squeeze into my garage. I also opted in with the tonneau brackets that they make, so that I can use my mopar soft tonneau cover. I will say the instructions were a bit vague, also I had to go to home depot to get extra hardware because some of the stainless steel bolts were not long enough.

Also if you look, I did mount it backwards because that way it lets me unlock and fold the tonneau cover. I then push it through and then just roll it up. I plan to buy extra Velcro extensions so that I can use the regular tie downs. It works once you get used to it.

Mod #008 - 23.Zero Walkabout 62 Queen RTT
Mod LINK // Completed Oct 5 / 2020
I am very happy to be part of the #23Zero Family. I am quite surprised by the build quality, mostly because lets be honest most things you buy now-a-days is not really build that well. But the quality of the mattress, the material choices, and the sheer quality of the zippers they used is incredible. I have set up the tent twice now and its incredibly easy. Really pleased with my purchase.

If you guys have any questions about the RTT or the install let me know, ill try to answer as best as I can.
