Looking at a 2.3 black diamond with additional mid package, modular bumper, and tow package.

Are there any glaring short comings compared to my willys such as drive train or suspension issues? The way I'm seeing it now is the black diamond matches what I have and adds a few things I want to add.

What I gain:
wash out floor - intend to add armorlite in my jeep eventually
marine grade vinyl seats - looking at similar material seat covers for my jeep
rear locker - lsd in my jeep
I like the look of the bronco(opinion)

What I lose
truck bed - pretty big deal but I figure I actually use the bed to capacity once in a blue moon, borrowing a small utility trailer from a family member seems to fix that issue
hard top - I think there will be a significant increase in noise but I have looked many times at moving to a soft top on my jeep. Removing my hard top is not necessarily taxing but it would be nice to have a simple fold down and quick deployment that travels with me
premium audio

I really like my jeep and the only thing other than rubicon or majave gladiator that would get me out of my current truck is a bronco.

This all really depends on how much the deal wants to deal with me. I'm looking at roughly 1-2k increase on my note after trade in.

I had an order for a Bronco and have probably 4 hours in them. Both soft tops, a 2 door 2.3 and a 4 door 2.7.

Its definitely more civilized than your Jeep. Actually in all the test drives of Gladiators I did, the Willy's was the least civilized. Loud mudders on a base suspension. Great bang for the buck for off road, but not what I was looking for.

I wanted a decent road machine. So for me the Mojave worked and it gave my wife the pretty light grey leather and all the toys.

The Bronco feels soft and cushy to me. Almost floaty. It drives like any other softly sprung SUV. Which could be a good thing if you drive on the highway much. It was loud and I don't think the Bronco soft top was as god as the Jeep premium soft top.

The Bronco passenger compartment is considerably wider than the Jeeps. That is irrelevant to my family because we are not big people. But for some it might matter.

I was honestly ready to buy the bronco as I have no brand loyalty. (this is my first jeep) But 2 things stopped me.

1) I wanted a hard top and for what I wanted (Cactus grey with a white top) I was looking at late 2023. I am not an impatient person. (I waited from Jan 2021 to Oct 2021 when I finally changed my mind). But I wanted a new family fun vehicle and a 2 1/2 year wait was too long.

2) The cargo area is miniscule. Our current road trip vehicle is my wife's Volvo wagon. Its a 2015 so its old school boxy. So its got a lot of useful space. One NEED is for it to carry my dog kennel with the back seat up. It fits in the Volvo lengthwise, leaving plenty of room for cargo. In the Bronco, the kennel needed to be put in sideways. It then took up most of the cargo area. And anything else would block the door so if we stopped for a pit stop I'd need to empty the back to let the dog out.

I've now got a Gladiator with a RSI SmartCap. Its got the room I need and is great fun for all of us. I honestly had a rough time wrapping my brain around the fact that a 5000 lb 60,000 truck had less room in it than my wife's 7 year old Volvo wagon. (It also towed less than her wagon)

But if you dont' need the room, go for it.

Was tempted, but Ford dealer told me 2 years for an order (not sure how accurate he was), and the package with heated seats kept deleting the manual because of the remote start. I like both, but eventually traded my 12 JKR on my ordered and delivered manual 22 JT Willys.

Most dealers for the Bronco are adding ADM of 10K or more depending on trim level. I had a WildTrak on order and ended up cancelling after reading the forums, seeing all of the quality issues associated with it and the fact that my dealer deleted the tow package I would need since I am giving up my truck. Gladiator on order now, has a bed and can tow more than the Bronco. Better deal with the Jeep in my opinion.

EDIT: If you can find a Bronco for sale on the lot will have ADM, orders are a long wait time and due to chip shortages may not get the features you want.

I got one on order, ordered a 4 door 2.7 in Feb. $48,710 was the price, no markup from Hilbish in Kannapolis NC. Still waiting on a Vin but they are delivering most to them in 5 month or less based on others experiences. I ordered from them based on advice from RTR Racing. I wouldn't get rid of my Jeep Gladiator for one but the wife wants one. I'll say this, the Bronco rides better and has significantly more power than the JT. You can feel it. I need a truck though and that's the reason I'm not in a Wrangler anymore and the JT was a happy compromise.

Did you get a soft top. I have yet to see a hard top in the wild. I haven't been on Bronco6G.com in months, but are they even shipping hard tops??

We almost got a Bronco for my wife. We had a 68 when we got married, but we ended up getting rid of it since we had too many Jeeps. haha. I think they are rad, and with 35s or 37s, look great in a 4 door. Quality issues and wait time have us on pause with it, and will likely wait another couple of years to see how they refine those shortages and quality issues. Price is also Waaaayyy up there compared to initial prices. Our Gladiator will always be around as we use it to haul our Newfoundland Poodle(130 pounds), tow trailers, and camp out of the back of it, and a billion other reasons we need a truck bed. Today for instance, we brought home 28 bags of mulch....my wife's 2022 Pathfinder with all 6 rear seats down couldn't hold that, so I would have needed a trailer.

Are you trying to order or buy off a lot? You cannot order them until 2023 as Ford has seemed to (finally) try and alleviate the backlog. I’ve shared many times my personal feelings of Ford and how they’ve handled this mess as my wife has been waiting for almost 2 years. The hard top is junk and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to replace it a 2nd time. With that said, the 2.3L isn’t bad…it was really peppy in the Sasquatch with the 4.56? (I think? Maybe it’s 4.7). You lose a lot of the tech, the 12” screen, 360 cameras, signature lights etc. But the black diamond is a good deal. It’s a good vehicle, fun to drive.

They have been for a long time. You really haven’t seen one? Colorado must order more of everything because I see Jeeps, gladiators and Broncos everywhere all the time.

There are a few Broncos running around town in MA and I saw a bunch up in NH over the winter. But all were soft tops.

I would wait a couple of years till Ford figures out quality control and all other manufacturing gremlins with the Bronco. I agree having a truck is cool, but utility trailer makes more sense for an average driver.

*If the average driver has somewhere to put a utility trailer*, and wants to pull a trailer. I don't have room for a utility trailer, or the desire to pull one. Having a bed is great. Still, if the Jeep makes me mad, bronco, here I come.
