Driving home from local beach and got hit. I was sitting at a red light and when it turned green, homie thought that meant go faster and rammed another car and me. I jumped out to check my kids in the backseat and once i calmed down enough to realize they were ok...I proceeded to "help" the guy out of his car. He apparently "hit" his head pretty bad into my hand as i was helping him.

Younger couple was next to me (left side) and took most of the hit. The guy who ran the light was given 9 citations and taken to local hospital (via police escort) for some blood analysis.... guess that whatever was so important isn't any more lol !!!!

Driver of other car was taken to hospital too for precautions but should be ok.

All in all... hope its just limited to suspension. Motor fired up and shifted just fine. Alignment may be off a bit lol . Getting it towed to my buddy's shop tomorrow or the next day.

How's your hand? Did you break it or just scrape the knuckles?

I assume the couple were in the silver Chevy?

The guy who ran the light was given 9 citations and taken to local hospital (via police escort) for some blood analysis....

So the guy was pretty obviously impaired? Was he hurt - I mean other than bumping his head into your fist?

its perfectly fine....

actually, the younger couple was in the white vw behind us. when we took off at the green light...he (driver) was a little ahead of me. I kinda saw it coming but not really so i swerved hard right and white vw hit silver car and "spun" him into me...i think...or at least my best guess as to how it exactly happened

he stunk like weed.....not hurt enough

Glad you and the kids are ok.

Now is the time to get that new aftermarket front bumper you have been looking at. Or at least get the steel Rubi bumper.

Order it and have the insurance pay for it.

Under NJ law, you do not have to repair your vehicle or put it to stock. They’ll cut you a check and you can decide which parts to buy… if any. Also make sure you get some extra money from their insurance company for depreciated value.

Glad you're feeling ok, although I would keep an eye out for any lingering effects, got slammed into at only 10 mph at a stop sign once and felt fine, my neck disagreed the next day, and I was 21 when that happened.

Sucks that garbage people are a danger to others instead of just themselves. I was almost in this same situation two days ago when I saw some drunk moron flying up into my rear view mirror doing 70 in a residential in the middle of the night. Had to swerve onto the sidewalk to avoid the hit, a half second later and it would have been a very different story, he came within a half foot of me, felt the wind shake my truck.

And a dash cam. With a $60,000 vehicle, that should be your first "mod", always. There are way too many reckless idiots staring at their phones and scumbag lawyers that will try to help them get out of it these days.

Ugh, I hate people. Glad to hear everyone's okay.

I got rear ended last year at a red light and the kid was not going to stop. I pulled over and he just rolled forward, waiting for the light to change so he could take off. I stepped out of my car and waved him down with a police officer friend who just happened to be riding with me. I could see him mouth the word "fuuuuuuuck" through the windshield. Long story short, his vehicle got towed and he received a laundry list of citations 😂

And I definitely second watching for lingering effects. I was fine when it happened, but my neck was pretty sore the following few days.

Did that twice with my F250. People apparently can't see RED very well, and that truck took multiple hits over the time I had it.
I collected a couple of checks........... and when I traded that truck in it still had the dings and dents from those incidents.

And a dash cam.
The more I see on this forum, the more I'm thinking - "I wonder if a dash cam is right for me"

Having the kids in the vehicle when something like that happens - just plain scary. Glad they are ok. Adult have already made their life paths - kids don't need adults who are high and/or drunk to mess up their futures (or worse).

Do be wary of bent parts - steering knuckles, weakened FAD because of the hard shove on the front axle housing, possible leaks where the tubes join the pumpkin (differential housing - I'm old, that's what we call 'em) bent control arms, track bar, any impact to the transfer case because of forces transmitted through the drive shaft. Engine may be fine, transmission may be fine - but physics suggest that objects at rest - and those parts have mass so they like to stay at rest even when disturbed by high idiots.
Get out the bright lights and fine-tooth comb. Hit the fool for it now as once you sign any checks or papers, it's a done deal.
