Curious to see what comes from Jeep as there will now be a direct competitor to the Wrangler. Obviously, it will be debatable whether a Jeep change was directly related to the Bronco, but that's part of the fun!

Jeep in relation to the Wrangler and I guess the Gladiator by proxy is that they just need to keep doing what makes them be in their own class of vehicle. Chasing what the competition does just to be different from the Wrangler is going going to chase away the core buyer off road user base. The mall crawler crowd is going to jump whenever they see fit.

The LEAST Jeep needs to do is offer an optional 35" wheel/tire/4.56 gear package, available on every JL/JT trim level. We all know they fit without mods -- there is no reason NOT to offer it except laziness/complacency on Jeep's part.

The Bronco's 35" Sasquatch tire package, available on every Bronco trim level from the base on up , was a stroke of genius. Yes, the package is $4500 retail, and YES, Ford's going to sell a TON of those packages.

The fact that there are NO "optional" tire sizes the Wrangler/Gladiator (you have to choose a whole different trim level even to get a slightly different tire size), is frankly an embarrassment for a brand like Jeep that blows its own horn about its off-road creds in all its advertising.

I don't think Jeep has to worry for ahwile. Broncos are delayed till sometime next year. And a completely new model, quite a few people are going to wait to see what the reliability is. I think in the end it's will benefit the consumer as there will probably more room to negotiate price.

Ford is alone in this industry in offering utilitarian features on any trim level and only gating the creature comforts behind trim levels. IMO it's outstanding because you can buy a bare bones Ranger or F-150 and get the FX4 package with the rear locker vs. everyone else on the market requiring you buy an up-trim Z71 or TRD package to get the same.

The problem is that it means people might actually buy the lower trim levels and those typically have the lowest markup. FCA likes making money and so long as people will buy the Rubicon, they're going to keep selling on this structure.

Frankly, the Squatch package is like no-brainer level outstanding deal when you consider you get an upgrade to the M210/M220 Dana 44s, gears that will spin 37s without much fuss, and a pair of lockers. The Rubicon package has always bothered me because it's almost always required new gears to get into the tires most will be installing. 4.10s were fine in the TJ days when 35s were most peoples' end game but when 37s fit nearly stock, Jeep needs to re-think what they're doing.
