I have heard through a third party parts supplier that a fix could be pending release within the next 10 days (I haven't been able to substantiate this anywhere though so YMMV)
Which supplier is this? The fix would involve rebuilding the pump to add races to the plungers or replacing the pump all together.

Bosch, their insurance company, their suppliers and anyone associated with their business will have this to say if they admit their product is faulty.

Hopefully they didn’t hire the law firm Dewy Dickum & Howe!

I was told by my service advisor that Bosch says the pumps are within spec and the issue is not theirs. This is the same stance they have taken with other auto manufacturers like VW, Ford, etc... This is supposedly why it is taking so long, everyone is jockeying for position. If Bosch falls here they will probably be on the hook for everyone else too.
I read on the Ford Diesel forum (Yeah I have one of those too) that the Bosch fuel pump was designed to European fuel specs and the US diesel specs don’t have as much lubricity to them which is what’s causing the problems here in the US.

Common sense says you don't design something for one market and sell it in another expecting the same result. I've always recommended my customers use some sort of lubricity addictive (HotShot EDT is my go to) in their fuel to offset the ridiculously low lubricity in US diesel.

Really will depend on who certified the part for USA use? The OEM's just as easily could have gone to BOSH and they disclosed the limitations and the OEM's self certified it. If that is the case, the OEM's would probably share liability cost for it and not soley on BOSH the supplier.

@A 2, are you the original owner of your Gladiator? I have a '21 CPO that I purchased last year and was considering trading it in an effort to avoid this issue. I wonder whether a second owner of a CPO would get the same treatment and offers that the original owner gets.

Not only am i the original owner but spec’d it out before it hit the assembly line. Love this truck, that’s why I’d never let them buy it back. That said, this is a recall issue. My guess is regardless of the CPO, you should expect the same service and treatment.

id expect @JeepCares would say the same.

Recalls supersede change of ownership.

I understand that the recall would apply to the second owner, and that being a CPO unit it will be under warranty for a longer period than a newly purchased one (7/100 vs 5/100). I was wondering whether there was a distinction on the buyback offer to an owner of a new one vs. that offer not being made to a second owner.

That being said, since they believe there will be parts available next quarter, and since I have not had an issue to date, I will stick with my JTRD knowing that help is just around the corner should I need it.

Thank you and @A 2 for your insight.

First, if true then Bosch’s engineers need to return to grade school since they failed to learn even rudimentary concepts of science, like testing theorems.

Second, I think this is the worst PR spin that Bosch could possibly engage in since, if true, they are more stupid than one could imagine. (See #1 above).

So I translate this to " there will not be a fix in August"

Chiming in here, as I now have something to offer.

On June 27th I experienced an abnormal rattling sound and then loss of all power as I was driving home on the freeway from a birthday dinner. I had my 21 JTDR towed to the Walnut Creek Jeep Dodge Ram service department. As it was an overnight drop off, the service department couldn’t start testing until today. I was offered a rental but declined due to the over abundance of vehicles in my driveway. I will pick up my rental tomorrow morning as the Service Adviser(Charles; he’s excellent) informed me that their diesel tech confirmed that the HPFP has left the chat. I will head into the dealership tomorrow and talk about next steps.

I don’t want a buyback. I want this truck. My last JTR had catastrophic engine failure due to camshaft issues and I had to initiate a buyback(lawyer threatened). I don’t want to go through that again. I own this truck. I don’t want to be forced to renegotiate to buy another, again. I will wait for it to be repaired. However, I will probably buy another work truck in the time being. The JT chassis is ideal for me and my work, but so is a Tacoma. I still have my 2015 TRD Pro Tacoma and I’ll likely sell that to buy another.

Yup, pretty much in the same boat.

Add me to the list.

Threw a fuel system lean code today which is a precursor to the pump failure. The code cleared itself but the pressures aren’t right. I swapped for a 2023 Rubicon gasser. Less headaches and wondering if today is the day.

The dealer paid full rate for mine and knocked $14k off the 2023. I’m swapping over all my goodies tomorrow and will drop the other off on Saturday.
