We had a R-pod teardrop trailer that was about 4,000 loaded up and I got 9 miles per gallon on the highway with the JT that has 33's on it that I haven't calibrated for. I may actually got 10 or 11 MPG. My previous two Grand Cherokees with the V6 and stock tires got about 11 MPG. I could get 25-28 MPG on the highway with my last Grand Cherokee if I was light footed. Towing a camper that is heavy and acts as a wind sail just destroys gas mileage. I will say that the JT tows much better than the Grands did though. Felt much more stable.

Thanks for the reply, I was figuring about that kind of mileage. Really, I think that’s pretty good.

Pulling my motorcycle trailer on the interstate at 70-75 I get 11. The trailer and HD weigh around 3000 pounds, it does have more wind resistance than a tear drop.

Maybe its flatter in the mid atlantic and northeast but I am getting 11-12 mpg average towing my 4700lb dry (probably closer to 5500 with gear) travel trailer. I have a 3.5" lift, 37" Ridge Grapplers, 4.88 gearing and a steel front bumper with winch so I am quite a bit heaver than stock. I was towing the a grand cherokee prior but had the 5.7L hemi and got about 10-11 average.

Tow roughly 3100lbs, average is about 10-11 mpg at 60-62 mph. I have seen as low as 6.6 with a headwind at 65 mph, about 9 mpg with no headwind at 65mph. Mopar lift with K02 and 315/70-17 tires.

JTR w3/4” lift towing 7x16 v-nose cargo camper conversion weighing 4700 (probably closer to 5k w/clothes, gear and foods) got an average of 9mpg from St Louis to Yellowstone and back. Reved up to 6k rpm in 4th gear to hold 70 up the hills but with WDH and sway control, I hardly felt the trailer (very stable). Truck also has a high clearance front bumper on it with a 15k winch so it’s not very aerodynamic.

note: Lift is actually 1&1/2” front but the bumper/winch brought the front back down 3/4” so I netted 3/4” front and put 3/4” in the rear to keep factory rake for towing

My camper weighs around 3600 lbs, I get around 15 mpg when going to the beach. This past weekend I average around 12-13 mpg’s going towards the NC mountains.
