Nothing wrong with the new Tacomas. They finally fixed everything I hated about them. The Colorado/Canyon are nice too.
Why don't you buy one ... ;)

But, but, what about the 2027 Ram Dakota? ;)

Could be cool. I’ll just believe it when I see it. I typically buy GM trucks and I have a soft spot for Jeeps. This is my 4th. I’m by no means brand loyal, but I usually end up with a GMC truck because I end up liking it the best after driving all of them. This time I traded in a GMC for the Gladiator. Even though the GMC is better in every way, I like the Gladiator. It has an X factor.

Yeah, Ram is very late to the party.

Ideally, you want to own both (GMC truck and Gladiator). That way you have best of both worlds and don't feel like you're compromising between the two.

I was a GM fanboy in high school and college (1990s) but became a Dodge/Jeep fanboy by the early 2000s. I'm still loyal to Ram and Jeep.

Today I was presented with the opportunity to trade my bone stock 2020 JTR in for another 2020 JTR. The color year and mileage (3k difference) were all nearly identical. The kicker is the “new” JTR has a higher level trim package and all the aftermarket parts I wanted to purchase for mine minus a winch. The price difference was $5k after tax and fees. It was a no brainer decision and my wife even told me I was sleeping on the couch if I didn’t pull the trigger. I’m extremely excited about this purchase. Previous JT vs “new”

Glad you got what you wanted, so you saved yourself some $$$ on some things too. Rubicon axles and T-case would have cost more than $5000.°° to get and install.

The guy bought a new rig that "has a higher level trim package" and some upgrades that he was buying anyway. Not sure why we have to cut the guy down. If he's happy, more power to him. Sounds like his wife is happy about it as well. Nice lookin' JT; especially in Gator

After reading some of these negative opinions that some have after they assumed the “value” of my decision. I think I should elaborate a little.
This was a vehicle that I was able to meticulously go through before purchasing with each upgrade and the value. It was also not built in a backyard garage as some would rather do themselves. With that being said the cost to purchase the aftermarket parts and have them installed, which I am more than able to do myself but not capable with my limited garage space, far exceeded what I paid. Those that would rather spend 3 times as much and do it yourself. Have at it. I’m not here to degrade you for doing it. I on the other hand am on a very limited budget and this build would have taken me 5-10 years to accomplish at full cost, so yea I took a shortcut, it’s not your JT it’s mine and I am very happy with it. It might be a bad decision in time or it may have saved me $10k+ in the long run. We can all only imagine. I don’t know anyone’s full story and nobody on here knows mine, so let’s all just be a little less eager to jump someone’s case for not “doing what they would have done”.

I may be one of those that you see my comments as negative, but I was pretty clear that it's simply not what I would have done. I do all my own installs with no garage in the driveway. Taking the labor cost out I'm guessing you'd be pretty close to a wash building what you had vs trading in. For the simple added bonus of being able to pick the parts myself personally I'd go that route. If you'd rather buy built there's nothing wrong with that.

Not any mud slinging from me, I don't think. 🤔 Glad you found/ got what you wanted. Heck if I could find a deal to get one in my budget without the mileage mine has already. FYI I thought you had started with a base model not even a Rubicon one. :like:

My original was the lowest option rubicon, purchased used last august. It had been in the shop a few times for warranty work so I wasn’t too attached to it anyway. But like I said this one saved me a ton of $ and about 5-10 years of time to accumulate all the parts that were installed on it. I was given the build sheet and the parts alone new were in excess of $20k. I’m very happy with this purchase and hope to hit the trails when the rain stops falling here.

$20k and not even a winch? Can you elaborate on this build? Because aside from the front bumper and lift, it appears the same as your previous rig.
