Yup!ā¦ I have crawled under the JT several times to check this out... For me it's backlash in the drivetrain, rear differential primarily...Has anyone noticed when putting gear from Park to drive or reverse if you hear a clunk or roughness? Is this normal?
Ok thanks everyone for your replies.....so I called the service dept at dealership.....was asked if it does it all the time or just at first start up and thinking about it.....it only does it when I first get in to leave after it's been sitting a bit but that a tad afterwards it doesn't do it so he said it maybe because it's cold...????... I live in Florida but I get what he is saying....will definitely keep an ear out andan eye out for the recall
I have experienced the same clunking noise as well. Havenāt received any notices. I have āLaunchā model. Can I expect one or should I take to a dealer?Hello Everyone,
We're sorry to hear that you have a clunk when changing from park to drive/reverse in your Gladiator. We recommend that you bring this to your dealer's attention. If you do visit your dealer for this, please send our team a private message to let us know. We would like to offer support and formally document your concerns.

Interesting. This is the first that Iāve heard a driveshaft would be ordered since the announcement of the recall.Mine does it all the time.... But I have to say, I really didn't notice it when I first got the Jeep.
One day, with about 2K on the OD, I put it in reverse and it went, CLUNK...
I thought, that's a lot of slop in the drivetrain for a new vehicle...
Until you mentioned this, and now the recall, I was thinking it was just how it's designed...
Now I know I was not correct in my thinking...
Parts on order. Sounds like they are going to change the complete driveshaft..
