Has anyone noticed when putting gear from Park to drive or reverse if you hear a clunk or roughness? Is this normal?

Yup!ā€¦ I have crawled under the JT several times to check this out... For me it's backlash in the drivetrain, rear differential primarily...

Keeping my eye on this for now, but plan on taking into the Stealership to get checked out..

Yeah, and I wonder if it's because of that stupid carrier bearing they put on these trucks. Eventually I'm going to ditch that thing and get a real 1-piece driveshaft.

I don't notice anything like that. Seems pretty smooth for me.

Yup....i have noticed that. For f*cks sake, this thing better not turn into a bigger headache than it already is. The whole reason I bought brand new was to avoid issues for a while. At this rate I was better off with my 25 yr old XJ. Lol D*mn you FCA.

I hear a clunk as well. Not horrible but more than I expected from a new driveline. I am also flagged with the monoblock recall. Maybe that is the culprit and gets fixed soon when parts are available.

Yep have it in mine as well. Ironically I didn't notice it until after 1,000 on the truck. Have to say, I have experienced this in GM and Ford trucks as well. Have never had any issues with those even after 120,000 miles, which is typically when I trade them in.

Now my Nissan Titan XD................that's a whole other story of pain.....

I have it too, itā€™s not the first vehicle Iā€™ve had it in either- notice it more often on incline and declines, maybe the parking pin has torque on it or something when you park due to any gradient in the ground? Just a guess but if it gets louder or turns out to by some kind of symptom of this recall Iā€™ll take it in. My build is within range but doesnā€™t seem Iā€™m affected by the recall?- are overlands exempt or something?

Ok thanks everyone for your replies.....so I called the service dept at dealership.....was asked if it does it all the time or just at first start up and thinking about it.....it only does it when I first get in to leave after it's been sitting a bit but that a tad afterwards it doesn't do it so he said it maybe because it's cold...????... I live in Florida but I get what he is saying....will definitely keep an ear out andan eye out for the recall

Mine does it all the time.... But I have to say, I really didn't notice it when I first got the Jeep.
One day, with about 2K on the OD, I put it in reverse and it went, CLUNK...

I thought, that's a lot of slop in the drivetrain for a new vehicle...

Until you mentioned this, and now the recall, I was thinking it was just how it's designed...
Now I know I was not correct in my thinking...

Parts on order. Sounds like they are going to change the complete driveshaft..

I have experienced the same clunking noise as well. Havenā€™t received any notices. I have ā€œLaunchā€ model. Can I expect one or should I take to a dealer?

Mine does it.
Itā€™s the worst when sitting in stop-n-go traffic.

Interesting. This is the first that Iā€™ve heard a driveshaft would be ordered since the announcement of the recall.
