Tried 4WD got CEL

600miles on my gladiator I tried 4WD and 4WL. Bone stock.

got CEL

I found my old scanner, it worked fine.

Theses seem to be associated with lift and tires. Luckily I’m still stock.

Ouch man... definitely not fun... looks like I get to ask the first question... did you put it 4wd/ 4Lo on dry pavement?

but to say at least... take it to your dealer and have them check it out... shouldn’t be throwing codes.

Yeah, that’s the question you’d expect. But it’s not my first Jeep.

My question is... do you have an aftermarket trailer brake controller? Several threads about those throwing up codes and kicking off the abs and traction control lights on the dash.

Only “modification” is a solid fold bed cover. Other then that, the only thing I’ve done is fill it with gas.

I was going to lift it... but that’s on hold due to this defect


For what it’s worth, I’m been waiting on my appointment with the dealer. It goes in on Tuesday.

FWIW, The warning lights turned off on their own.

and as I recalled the events prior to the abs warning. I recalled that earlier in that drive, the brake pedal felt strange( like it vibrated), it wasn’t a panic stop. I just slowed and pulled to the right to let some dude in an Audi pass.

I have an after market brake controller.
If I manually activate the trailer brakes, I get every light on the dash. As soon as I restart the truck they are all off again.
The trailer brakes work fine, but hit the manual brake controller and Walla idiot lights

Per the dealer, The codes say driver side rear sensor has issues. They checked the wire and it looks good to the tests they can perform. The sensor is not available, 68338379AB. So it’s on order. Maybe that will fix it. Or maybe not.

They replaced the wheel sensor today. ABS and traction control warning lights came on and off a few times on the way home.
