Living in an Artificial Intelligence world, peeps. Wrong turn ahead. That just means some comp figured out there was extra room for higher prices by making auto loans available past 60 months. About the time we were fresh from Bailout, people lost jobs, homes, mother's unable to feed children. All that means nothing. This is bad plywood. I hope Jeep prices this thing sensibly.

Cars went up 28% over the same period - guess where Ford is making all its $$?
I paid $32K for my ‘02 F250 7.3L XLT when I bought it new.
So yeah I would agree w/ the 61%

I paid $25,500 for my 2008 Honda Ridgeline RTL new in 2008. It’s MSRP was $33,000.

I loved my ‘08 Ridgeline so much that I swore I’d buy a new Gen 2 the moment it was available. Fast forward 10 years...

2018 Honda Ridgeline RTL was released at $42,000 with no deals to be negotiated. Pass. For $42,000 I have a lot of options including full size trucks. BTW that’s a 60.7% increase for the Ridgeline in 10 years over what I paid for my 2008.

Although there are several things I still like about the Honda, I’m Glad I passed and will now be putting the $ toward a 2020 Gladiator.

2012 JKU Sport S, Max Tow package, 3.73 axle upgrade = $29,860

2018 JLU Sport S, Hardtop, Tech package, automatic = $39,640

The Wrangler I'm driving now was 32% more expensive over a period of 6 years despite being a similar model. I leased it because I didn't want huge payments. When my lease is up, I'm going to a pickup truck again. The Gladiator is #1 on the list right now... but I'm seeing that I can buy a full size truck for less money, so that will be a consideration when the time comes.

Yep same here.

My JKU Rubicon in the same configuration is now $10K more in the JLU.

The government tells us that inflation is at or below 2% which is total horse shit. If you look at the increased prices in cars, homes, food, and healthcare there is no way in hell that's the case.

I remember growing up in the early 80 where you couldn't give a pickup truck away on the dealer lots... granted they weren't as nice inside with all the creature comforts back then. :)

I depends where you're from I guess. I grew up in Texas so trucks were always cool. And hasn't the F-150 been the best selling vehicle in the US since the early '80s? edit: Yes, since 1982.

I remember the late 1970s when you couldn't find a pickup truck on the dealer lots because they were all sold before they were unloaded from the carrier :)

The winter of 1977-78 had a lot to do with that.

I grew up south of Pittsburgh. Growing up you could buy a truck for a steal normally.

If you included inflation that is $44.7k in today's dollars.
Same configuration today would still cost you upper 50 thousands though. :computerrage:
