Starting an issues log to keep track issues/bugs/oddities with the 8.4 Uconnect system. I'm three weeks in with my Overland and this is what I've experienced:

1. Without the key fob on me, if I open any door the screen illuminates with the Jeep logo, then shuts off. Why does it even turn on? Maybe no issue, but then if I get the key fob it takes me three cycles on the push to start to actually start the engine.
2. No audio. I found this is a similar glitch on the '18 JL's. Randomly I get no audio, regardless of source, including the hands-free steering wheel button. The only solution is to push the AM input button. Yup, that works. Quirky, ain't it :)
3. The Audio icon does not hold it's current station. Sometimes if I'm listing to SiriusXM it will display the FM radio station that I was listening to.
4. Twitching back up camera lines. Sometimes they just shake. I know the JL's have had issues on them going silent, but my sometimes just dance around.

Any other issues out there?

Itā€™s nice to see that Jeep is listening/paying attention.

So far, ours seems to be working fine but itā€™s definitely been a learning curve.

I would add (if Jeep is still listening) if there was any possible way at all to have two vehicles keyed the same (fleet style) I would order the second one and possibly a third.

Dealership said NO WAY!

Hmmmm. Chevrolet did. : )

A question from somebody new to UConnect and Carplay: Must the phone be plugged into a USB outlet for Carplay to launch or will it launch simply through the Bluetooth connection? Also, it appears that if I plug my phone in, Carplay launches, but when I unplug it, the phone is no longer connected (although it shows as still paired) to the vehicle and I have to go into settings again and re-connect.

The phone must be connected via USB. There are some devices that support connection via Bluetooth, but as far as I can tell the current version of Uconnect does not support this.

I have experienced the same problem with Bluetooth disconnecting and having to re-pair the phone. @JeepCares can you please note this problem. I've had to re-pair almost once per week.

Hi LittleRocket,
@JT614 is correct. Your phone does need to be connected via USB in order to utilize Apple CarPlay. If you are experiencing difficulties with your phone staying connected via Bluetooth, we'd be happy to have this looked into further. Please send us a private message.

Hi JT614,
Thank you for letting us know about this concern. I would like to escalate a case for you so we can have this documented and looked into. Please send us a private message at your earliest convenience.

I'm curious if anyone has found solutions to the Bluetooth re-pairing problem? I have to re-pair my phone after every engine cycle. But if I plug it in via USB it connects to Android Auto and pairs right away to Bluetooth. It should just connect to Bluetooth as soon as I step into the vehicle and turn it on, but it never has.

I'm having an issue with my brand new 2020 Gladiator with the 7in Uconnect. For whatever reason in the early mornings when I get in to go to work the SiriusXM is stuck on "Acquiring Signal" and for the 10 minute drive to work I never get a signal. When I get in the truck in the afternoon to go home it works fine.
Second issue is when I use android auto (I have a Note 9) through the USB port in front of the shifter everything works great until I unplug the phone. The SiriusXM comes back on as it should, but then the screen flickers between channels and when selecting a channel the screen does not change, but the channels actually cycle in the background. It happened in the parking lock of the dealership as I was bring it in for them to look at and showed the sales person what was going on so there was proof I wasn't crazy. Once it starts doing this funky chicken on the screen the only way to fix it is to pull over, shut the Jeep off, wait 30 seconds for everything to shut down then start it back up again to reboot the radio. Simply shutting the power off on the controls just puts it in a sleep mode and there is no reboot function. The service center tells me their tech drove it and couldn't get it to fail. They tried different phones and they all work fine so basically I feel like I'm being called a liar because they don't see it even after showing a sales guy and taking video of it. They tell me there are no updates for it or trouble codes so there is nothing they can do. Gladiator has 350 miles on it.

There are other issues like the loose steering, but the radio thing is just a nagging frustrating thing because it requires you to pull over and shut the vehicle off. Add to that the dealership basically telling you. "We don't see it therefor it doesn't exist"
I'm posting this hoping someone else experiencing the same thing might have info that would help me.

Hi Alison, my JT is currently at the dealer and they may replace the radio so hopefully that fixes things.

2020 Gladiator 2 weeks old. Apple CarPlay now does not show in the upper right area of the 8.4 screen. I have to start playing music from my phone then go into another app on Uconnect to see the music playing in the right upper corner. then when I choose that it takes me to apple CarPlay. I can use all functions but if I choose radio then I cannot get back to it without going through these steps.

I have tried different cords and different usb connections. I have also reset the radio from the settings app. Still the same. Is there anything else I can try without having to go to the dealer?

I am having problems with Apple CarPlay on my Uconnect 8.4ā€ system in my Gladiator. Everything seems to work as it should, but I cannot make or receive phone calls. If I put my phone on speaker phone while it is plugged in I can speak through the phone, but I canā€™t talk through the jeeps speakers. I can talk to Siri, hear directions on maps, etc. its just the phone part. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know a solution?

I've had the no audio issue twice. Never thought to press the AM button. Happens again I'll try that. My solution has been to just live with it until I get where I'm going, shut it off, and open the door to kill power. When I get back in, audio came back.

My reverse camera does glitch, it's like a tv with a bad station reception, it's somewhat distracting but it works. I'd say 1 in 10 times I get no reverse lines at all. It's minor, I'll live with it until she goes in for her first oil change. I almost think it's the camera itself giving issues more so then the radio. Aside from these little things it's actually quite a nice system. No pairing or remembering last source issues at all.

On my Uconnect 8.4N I have favorites set up in SiriusXM so when one of my favorite artists comes on the air, I get an alert. Recently however it quit working. The favorite icon will show up on the top of the screen with an alert sound like normal, but it will disappear before I have a chance to click on it. When I go to browse then select my favorites on the air, it will show none playing.
