Hello. Last week I purchased a new 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and went through all the Connect procedures with the dealer. Eight days later I still cannot get the App to activate. When I press the App in the vehicle - I can a message saying that it's "ACTIVATING." The app on my phone will work the commands but I get no data on the vehicle. I've spoken to an agent multiple times, deleted and re-downloaded the app, reset the radio holding both volume and tuner keys and nothing works. I've been told that there is a ticket open at Connect but they assured me 5 days ago it would be working in 24 hours. Has anyone else experienced difficulties getting the app to activate in the vehicle so that data can be viewed on your phone? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this exact issue you are describing before. I've had it happen on 3 vehicles I've had in the past couple years.

What you have is an issue with your system not being provisioned correctly. Your system is driven by a modem, which is assigned a phone number by AT&T. It handles the communications for Uconnect.

Being able to send commands to it, but not receiving data back and endless activations are a sure sign of incorrect provisioning.

What has happened is that your vehicle was sent activation instructions to the phone number in the AT&T database, but your modem isn't programmed with that number in all the right places to facilitate an activation. Without that activation screen clearing in the vehicle, the vehicle data will never be available.

Please activate the Hotspot function on your vehicle, it will ask you to register for a free trial. If that wifi works, then your modem is working correctly, ruling out that problem.

That free trial will help correct two issues, one it will make sure Sirius XM Guardian, the Uconnect Provider has the same phone number as AT&T assigned to your account. Secondly, after 2 hours, you can do a personal data reset on the radio and it will push the correct phone number to your system. This will require you to keep the engine running for 20 minutes after the reset is complete.

After you do the data reset (its outlined in your owner's manual), please come back on here and send a message to @JeepCares with your VIN and contact info. Explain to them you need to have Sirius XM Guardian push the activation to your vehicle again. Ask them to do the same thing they did for me (Muengineer08 from JeepCherokeeClub) on my Gladiator, Courtney will be able to reference what they asked Uconnect to work with SiriusXM Guardian on.

Once they get the system to resend an activation, you will be driving around one day and out of the blue a small message will show your system is downloading Activate.ics.

That occurs after you've driven the vehicle enough to get the system ready for download. It will happen on its own. Once that happens, your system will activate, the activation icon will disappear and the connected services will activate no more than 24 hours later. Vehicle date is usually available after 2 drive cycles.

I know this is frustrating and it takes time, but it will work out.

Best of Luck.

This was in response to another post about this same issue, it may help you some more:

SiriusXM Guardian activation is a train wreck.

I've had a list of vehicles, 6 so far with their services and not one time has it correctly activated, every time SXMG insists the vehicle is defective and must return to the dealer. They are fucktards and have no idea what they are talking about.

After spending hundreds of hours on the phone with SXMG and writing JeepCares and Uconnect engineers and customer care specialists, I have intimate knowledge of what causes almost every SXMG problem that can exist, because I've had all of them at one time or another.

The issue you are having seems simple enough to me. If your Jeep can't accept remote commands, and when you press the assist buttons on the touchscreen, they just take you back to the your services aren't activated and then the activation screen, then your system was never provisioned correctly by SXMG. It happens because your vehicle MTN was not updated when the services were activated and the AT&T system is trying to send messages to a phone number (MTN) not programmed into your hotspot, which is what controls the assist calls and remote commands.

I've dealt with this before. You need to reach out to JeepCares and have them open a case with a Uconnect specialist. You will need to give them info, they will reach out to SXMG and get higher level tech support involved. This tier of tech support will force the correct provision to your vehicle. This will change your MTN programming in the vehicle to match what AT&T has on file and everything will magically start working 3-4 days after they tell you to reset your personal data, a procedure they will email you.

When you activated your hotspot, you should have received an email stating what phone number was assigned to your vehicle from AT&T

If you access the engineering menu in your vehicle by holding down the driver temp up and down buttons with the ignition off and switching it to on, you can go into the modem screen and the field MTN should say the same number AT&T emailed you.

I bet it doesn't and until it does, none of your stuff will work.

Trying to find the MTN in the dealer menu and the only modem related items (under dealer mode, system information, connectivity information) are shown below. Is there a different location to find MTN?
