I had mine under coated at the dealership at the time of purchase. I hope that it helps to keep rust away for a potential log-term vehicle. I am in NH.

I bought a kit of wool wax and spray gun that hooks to my air compressor. DIY itā€™s pretty easy and has enough for a few years. Takes about an hour.

Got mine sprayed and had the body panels coated inside. Also had the ceramic on the paint. Have to take it back each year for inspection of undercarriage and they respray for free if it's chiped worn or damaged.

I went with the Line-X ValuGard undercoating. They did inside the frame as well. $775.

I bought 5 cans of Fluid Film at Lowes and did the under carriage myself in the driveway. Did a decent job been through one winter already and no corrosion or rust. There are places that will apply it for you as well.

Local detailing shop quoted me around $120 to do it for me. If 5 cans cost ~$50 I guess $70 to not have to deal with it isn't terrible. Hmm...

Yeah, I would have paid that to have it done

I had my Gladiator done shortly after I bought it by a local shop that uses Fluidfilm. I like that product. It is parafine base, it is nontoxic and designed to protect metal from the elements. It does require respray every couple of years, but it has been around since WW2 giving it decades of history in multiple protection applications. I was charged $250 and watched it being done. It included the undercarriage, frame inside and out and doors. I think the doors on the new Jeepā€™s might be a mutt point as they are already quite resistant to rust being aluminum, but they got done too. This shop is near New Haven CT in case anyone is interested. They are trustworthy people. Just drop me a line if you need specifics.

Only downside to FF is when you have to work on some part of the under carriage like the suspension that has been sprayed, it leaves an oily film that attracts dirt and dust, turns into a black grimy film. I usually wear rubber gloves and have to clean my tools after.

I forgot to mention that you can pick black or clear Fluidfilm. Clear works on a reasonably clean vehicle, black will cover blemishes and will make an older truck look more pristine after the treatment I suppose. The shop can provide advice on your situation. I found that using a lift makes for much better access in my opinion. But if cost is a consideration, using the cans and doing it yourself is 95% as effective and better than no protection in the salt treated states. My 2012 JK looked considerably rusted after five years of NE winters. My 2018 JLU was starting to show signs of rust when traded in last July. I figured best to treat this last Jeep in case I keep it for a while. It bothers me to see the undercarriage taking a beating while the body looks reasonably ok. It is more psychological than real, but my Jeepā€™s are a thing of love šŸ˜Š.

Also, there is some minor smell after getting sprayed, but it is mild, it goes away in a couple or three days. You will get some dripping from the excess film on your driveway or garage specially the first week on a very hot day. After that is fine. Keep that in mind if you donā€™t want a sticky waxy substance on the ground.
