It's been almost 4 years now of my Jeep life that started in the Gladiator. I would have never thought I would be doing what i'm doing in it now back then. But after that first trip to Hidden Falls Adventure Park, I knew it would be a new hobby i'll likely never grow out of. Late last year I sent my Jeep off for a few new upgrades, ..and well, one thing turned into another and before I know it I;m wheleing in Moab at EJS. Since then, i've been back to Hidden falls a couple times, but nothing crazy. When at a local Jeep/Coffee event I heard that Jeep Jamboree was having a late Texas date, I jumped at the opportunity. A bit nervous as I also learned it was a level 8-9 and would be an experienced level I had only tested in Moab with an excellent guide. What the hell, lets do it! I had quite a few of my local Jeep club going as well, whom have done this before, as well I invited a friend who also just got his first Jeep and Gladiator.
I had heard amazing things about Jeep Jamboree, most noteably the urgency to sign up the minute the dates open as they sell out extremely fast. Also that the guides are absolute pros and have years of experience on thier specific trails. And of course the organization and complimentary meals. I was nervous and excited at the same time.
Once we arrived at registration, seeing other vehicles I felt better as there were literally all types of Jeeps, including many Gladiators. Some lifted on 40's with upgraded axles and others with small lifts and 35" tires. So back to the hotel (I don;t really do the camping stuff) and got ready for the next day by pulling the uppers off the doors and removing the rear window on the soft top. I aired down at the trail and dialed the front Falcon stabilizer to soft. Pulled out the recovery gear, and wired the Zeon winch, just in case.
Off I went. 17 Jeeps and 4 trail guides in our Red Group for 7-8 hours of wheeling in Texas' finest terrain. We ended the day with a hearty dinner and did it all over again the next day.
I had no mechanical issues, never got stuck, never got winched, only a loose terminal on N4 that cause my my radiator fan to quit working and brong the engine temps to max. Fortunately, there's always someone that brings eveything (it's not me), and I was quickly back up. I was mind blown by the guides and how knowledgeable they were of the trails and each obstacle. How well they broke up and got each Jeep through. Yes, the Gladiator hung up an many obstacles, but the rear hitch mount Body Armor skid did what it was intended for and kept me going. I literally cannot wait for the schedule to release for 2024 as I intend to do this again. Now I know what the Jeep Jamboree is all about. Hell yes!
